The centre is famous for its wildlife conservation and has wonderful views of the sea and wide skies, with walking trails around the reserve, bird hides, dragonfly ponds and more. Pick up a backpack with birdwatching and bug-hunting kit from the visitor centre and enjoy a reviving drink at the centre cafe. Discover peaceful country walks from the doorstep or go for a spin on the National Cycle Route which runs through Welney. The village pub serves food made with local produce. Hire a narrowboat for a gentle journey along the River Nene in the market town of March and follow the Gingerbread Trail in historic Downham Market (both 10 miles).
