In the unique atmosphere of the Fens’ landscape of huge skies, spectacular sunsets and fishing rivers, this cluster of quality barn conversions is the perfect place to relax and unwind. They are comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated to a very good standard. This tranquil spot boasts footpath walks on the owners’ 280-acre arable farm. Ely, 6 miles, occupying the largest island in the Fens, has a history dating back to Hereward the Wake and later, Oliver Cromwell. Its superb 11th century cathedral is surrounded by monastic buildings, medieval gateways and narrow streets leading down to the marina and river walks. King’s Lynn and Cambridge are easily accessible. Shops, riverside inns and restaurants at Littleport, 3 miles.. All properties: Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Cot and Highchair. Shared laundry room with two washer/dryers. Shared undercover courtyard and furniture. Shared covered barbecue area with gas barbecue. Parking. No smoking.

Location was fine but roads leading to accommodation were actually quite dangerous to drive down due to condition. There was no basic provisions such as salt and pepper, foil, baking trays, spare bin bags or a pair of scissors. Lamp in bedroom not working and light above bathroom mirror not working. Flakes off of the curtain lining in bathroom all over floor. Fridge was tiny and no good for 6 people. We had to store milk outside but it would be a problem in summer. All in all it was comfortable but quite tired looking. No information pack and wi fi password just written on a scrap of paper on the side. We also ordered a high chair and cot but they were not there so we had to go and find owner who then provided them. Would not recommend I'm afraid.

We enjoyed our stay. Inside the cottage was generally clean and the ground floor bedroom with bathroom was ideal. We found the kitchen and particularly fridge small. The supply crockery, pans etc was good. The outside covered area looked dilapidated, bird poo and spiders webs everywhere and generally dirty. More like a farmyard than seating/play area. We looked at the swimming pool, but the steps had a green film on and we decided that was not worth risking. The owner did explain that there was a problem with the filter system.Our main problem was the hot water boiler. It was positioned in the kitchen and the outlet was straight into the covered area outside. It ran off a kerosene/oil mixture. As soon as hot water was run the kitchen and really the whole downstairs smelled really strongly of burned kerosene. It made us all choke, but my brother, who has asthma suffered particularly.We understand the difficulty of providing amenities in such a rural location, but felt the boiler really was not fit for purpose.Overall, a lovely location and accommodation that suited us well. The owner who met us when we got there was friendly and helpful. However, the boiler let the place down badly to the extent that we would not return.
