About this property

Found in the beautiful rolling hills of Direen near the village of Athea in County Limerick, is this wonderful property Dirreen House, all ground-floor and packed full of everything you need for a great self-catering experience. Best suited to a family or group of friends wanting to explore this splendid area, you are near to the border of the neighbouring County Kerry, so there's even more to discover just a short journey away. Entering the property from the back will bring you to the kitchen, where you will enjoy preparing a loving meal for the family, hopefully with some help, although compact, it still has all you could want. Serve up on the dining table in the next room and enjoy some quality time together, and discuss what activities you'll do next and where you want to spend your week. The sitting room will be your favourite place to relax, with a plush seating arrangement and a woodburning stove, on a cooler evening you won't want to move from this inviting spot. When it's time to go to bed, there are three delightful bedrooms to choose from; a king-size, a double, and a twin room, providing you with an arrangement that will be suitable for most parties. On a warm summer’s day sit outside on the patio and watch as the children play on the large lawned garden, with green fields stretching as far as the eye can see. Athea itself is home to a few local pubs and a local shop with other amenities for you to enjoy. The lively town of Listowel has a good selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants for you to try, as well as a weekly farmers’ market, Listowel is a lovely place to spend a lazy afternoon, plus the town is situated on the banks of the River Feale, which offers fantastic fishing opportunities. Within easy driving distance of your cosy cottage are many popular attractions and destinations to pack into your holiday such as the beachside golf course at Ballybunion and the wild and rugged county of Clare, just a short ferry journey away. Alternatively, if you venture further south you can spend a day exploring the sights of Tralee, one of Kerry’s largest towns. From Tarbert you can take the ferry across the Shannon Estuary to the rugged and beautiful county of Clare, where you can drive along the Loop Head Peninsula to see its iconic lighthouse, or venture a little further and experience the Cliffs of Moher, Ireland’s most visited natural attraction. Dirreen House is a lovely property you will enjoy taking your family to and immersing yourself in the wonders of Ireland.

Abbeyfeale is a historical market town situated in County Limerick, near to the boundary with County Kerry. Any deductions are to do with relatively minor matters. If people can manage without house Wi-Fi and a dishwasher (which we wouldn't have used anyway) then it's a well maintained comfortable bungalow in a quiet and convenient location to access West Limerick and North Kerry.

Nice and quiet location, bungalow has excellent facilities and the food left as a welcome was an unexpected delight. Highly recommended. Just the two of us so one bathroom no problem but useful to have an en-suite, or good planning, for large groups. We took a bit of time to work out how the hot water was provided to sinks so a note about that in a welcome pack might be an idea. We were surprised how we missed having WiFi for planning trips even though we knew it was not available so worth consideration in future. All that said we would be back in a flash of we could.

So so peaceful and perfect for 5 - 6 people! Everything was provided in the cottage, cutlery and extras in the kitchen area and toiletries and cleaning products in the bathroom which was so handy! Everything from an iron to a vacuum cleaner was provided! Handy with so many of us to maintain the cleanliness. Even left fresh bread, scones, eggs and many more items on our arrival. The only feedback I would leave is that items of food left in the fridge were not halal, so an option for vegetarians would have been nice but that’s a very minor opinion I’d say, not something that would make me not want to book again! Already looking for dates for the next time I visit. Thank you once again!
