"Location is perfect. Just 30 mins out of Manchester, easy to get to yet rural and secluded - surrounding woodlands were beautiful. We were greeted by a lady who showed us to the lodge, gave a brief overview of everything we needed to know, then we were left to it.We didn't hear a peep from anybody the whole weekend, it was private and relaxing. The hot tub was perfect, yet could have been a little hotter (it was snowing though). The bed was slightly disappointing, the mattress was so hard and the pillows and bedding felt quite itchy and cheap which isn't what you expect from a deluxe lodge - unfortunately I didn't get a good nights sleep for the duration of my stay. The lodge itself was beautifully presented at first glance - although it could do with a few paint touch-ups and light maintenance work e.g. bath tub - gap in the tiles behind the tub, sounds light water was leaking out; exterior of shower wall needed painting - looked half finished; kitchen draws open by themselves and you're forever walking into them - that was quite annoying etc. We drew a bath on Sunday morning but it took so long and the hot water had run out by the time we had filled it. It was little things like this that took the deluxe feel away. There was also a small issue of cleanliness - the floors were quite dusty, I knocked a glass of water over so moved the sofa slightly to clean up and it was very grimy under there, the rugs were a little crumby and very dusty underneath, the cupboards were not cleaned out properly either as it was full of the last visitor's recycling (under the cooker). I would probably say the lodges are given a quick clean after every visitor - they probably need a more thorough clean...In comparison to other lodges I have stayed in this lodge was beautifully decorated and modern whilst keeping the cabin feel. The lodge is more impressive and bigger than the photos let on. However to make this a "deluxe"lodge I would recommend a welcome gift e.g. Bottle of wine or tea/coffee making facilities, possibly a small selection of DVDs, quality bedding and a thorough clean throughout would have improved my rating. Overall the weekend was fabulous and my criticism is only to improve for future guests.I would definitely stay here again."

"The cottage was easy to find and in a good location. We were disappointed to be greeted with a request for a £150 deposit on arrival at the pub, which is where we collected the keys. There was no explanation as to what this was for and when we found a nasty burn mark on the carpet in one of the bedrooms I felt the need to photograph it and call back into the pub to report it. Whilst I have stayed in properties on occasion that have asked for deposits they have always been fully explained and itineraries provided. This led to us feeling a little uneasy all week wondering if our money would be refunded back after we left. All there was indicating this deposit was required was a one liner in the description at the bottom of the notes and not clear how it would be imposed? The money has been refunded, but I would say for future reference this should be explained when booking the property and not on the day of arrival, so there are no surprises. Once settled into the cottage, whilst everything is nice and new we found the atmosphere a little impersonal and sterile probably because of its newness. Everything worked properly, although instructions for appliances were a little scattered about and I put them all together in the folder. There was also little information about things to do in the local area, but we had the internet so were able to look things up to see where to go and what was open. We did find that we ran out of cutlery regularly, particularly the tea spoons as there were only 5. There was also nothing to put any food in to heat things up in the microwave, so we ended up just using the crockery. This meant we put the dishwasher on more regularly and did think it would've been more of a problem if there'd been more of us as we were only 2. We enjoyed the view of the ducks and brook running along the front of the cottage from the bedroom window, but did struggle with the very large blind which bowed in the middle when lifted and we were worried it may break under the weight. It didn't, but something to look at to perhaps reinforce for the future? Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and the surrounding countryside was stunning with exceptional autumnal colours for the season. A great base to see Derbyshire at its best."

"I surprised my partner with a 4 night break in the Armour Deluxe for valentines week. Beautiful location. On arrival there was a long shared narrow bumpy track with a couple of huge holes that really wouldn’t take much effort to be filled if all the houses at the end chipped in. Very nice lodge and was bigger than I was expecting. Absolutely beautiful. Since it was freezing weather and February oh and valentines no one was about so it was extremely quiet. Hot tub appeared to be well maintained and was great. The pictures on website made it look like the lodge was secluded and next to a wood. In reality all the lodges were very close together so I’m guessing in better weather not very private. Our lodge was next to a small area of trees which had access for people. All in all it was a beautiful lodge and perfect for that time of year. The only thing that let it down was there were several kitchen draws that would not stay shut and a few handles in kitchen and bedroom that were hanging off and just resting on screws to make it look intact. More than a few days there and I’d of been going crazy trying to shut them! It had been mentioned on previous reviews. It really doesn’t take long to pick up a screw driver and tighten the runners or attach the handles back on. If we had one with us we would have fixed them! Having stayed in other lodges it was lacking hooks to hang dressing gowns by hot tub, hooks inside to hang coats and no where to hang towels., a form to fill for recommendations/ repairs etc would be beneficial for them also. It was still a beautiful lodge and great for that time of year just needs some TLC if it’s to keep ratings high as people do read reviews and do not want to see the same items requiring repair on each review. They were very nice staff and I’m sure if I’d of said while I was there they may of fixed the drawers but they would already be aware. However I did mention the lodge needed a shaving mirror as my partner struggled. They said they would get one at the weekend. Due to repairs needed for furniture and fittings I gave it an 8 purely because they would be aware as they cannot be missed! And because of that overall I gave it 9 as it was a lovely lodge. Attention to detail is everything"

"Had a wonderful time at Park Hall Manor and found the house keeper most helpful. The house is obviously old and a little scruffy around the edges but the sitting room and dining room are very impressive and the bedrooms are lovely. But do note, two or three are joined, therefore you have to walk through one bed room to get to the other, (we were a party of 17 adults and 6 children so this wasn't a problem at all ) The bathrooms i.e. showers need updating (towel rails or hooks would also help) but we had plenty of hot water, (we ALL had to get ready for an early morning wedding so we did put it to the test)! As others have mentioned the kitchen is small for the size of the house and definitely needs some TLC. I arranged with the Lantern Pike to provide all our main meals, that was a supper for the Friday we arrived, a sit down Wedding Breakfast and a light meal that evening. Therefore we only had to organise breakfast for ourselves and as we were sadly leaving Sunday, we went across and had a cooked breakfast at the Lantern Pike. I can't recommend enough, the Chef (Chris) at the Lantern Pike. All the meals he prepared were superb, he and his team (Leanne, Meggan and Rachel, I think) came over, got everything ready, served and clear everything away. Amazing value for money and an asset to Park Hall .... which in turn means the kitchen doesn't become an issue for you. So in all a lovely place to stay and I certainly do recommend. P.S. If I may make a suggestion it would be great if toilet rolls could be provided for the duration of ones stay and also a small fresh hand soap in each bathroom. Plus a check that the windows can all open."

"We stayed here for a little weekend away and it was perfect. On arrival we were met by Julie, who couldn't be more friendly and helpful. She told us everything we needed to know and showed us where everything was. The cabin was very modern and cosy. It was well built and felt very solid. Even down to the fine details of soft closing cupboard doors and toilet seat. The bed was very comfortable with lovely feathered pillows and duvet and the TV was easy to use. Best of all for us was the wood burner, it really made the experience more cosy. It was explained to us that the hut wasn't in its permanent plot and it is going to be moved into the next field soon which will be great as the views will be amazing. The evenings were very windy, but what do you expect when your staying in a place called 'windy harbour'. This didn't effect our experience at all as the Cabin was always warm and the sound of the wind was actually quiet relaxing. We cannot fault this place and we will definitely be back to enjoy it again in the summer."
