"We had a lovely week at the cottage where my son was given the privilege of feeding one of the lambs. The owners, Judy and Barry were very friendly and made sure our stay was a memorable one. Each time we went out we were greeted by the two comical dogs, Bill and Skip, who my son would have happily taken home. The cottage is light, spacious and incredibly clean and comfortable. If you enjoy watching the birds on the bird table, this is an ideal location as there are many different types including the woodpecker who visited daily which you don’t seem to see in the Midlands. The owl flew past one evening too which is a rare sight and all visible through the lounge window. This sight was often in replacement of watching the television as it was much more entertaining. There are many walks that start on the owners’ land and then out into further countryside. We managed a ten mile walk to Tamar Lakes one day but did ache the next (more practice needed I think!)As the cottage is set in a very rural spot, there’s not the light pollution that is often inescapable in towns and cities, therefore if you enjoy star gazing, especially with the aid of the app, ‘night sky’ and a telescope, It’s possible to work out which star you are looking at, or in some cases far off planets, like Venus shining brightly. Overall this is a very well cared for, stunning, spacious cottage in beautiful grounds that doesn’t disappoint. You have to see it in person to fully appreciate it! The friendly owners will either leave you to enjoy your stay knowing they are around if you need them, or there for a chat if you choose. It actually felt like visiting long lost family members, so I can see why this place has won the awards it has as they are fully deserved. Thank you so much for a very memorable holiday, Judy, Barry, Bill and Skip."

"We had the most wonderful time at the Cosy Cakery. The owner was very friendly and showed us around - everything was ready for us.The welcome pack of scones, jam and clotted cream along with some scrumpy and milk in the fridge was lovely. The cottage was spotless and we had everything we could want and more - even tea bags and coffee were already there. The beds were comfy and the shower refreshing. There was plenty of room for four of us and the conservatory was a lovely place to sit in the morning or evening. Our children loved the big garden with plenty of room to play badminton and it had easy access to the drive to take bodyboards and wetsuits straight into the garden to dry. While the location was in the countryside and felt quiet, it was still not far to get into Bude town centre or to Morrisons for some groceries. We recommend a walk along the cycle track or canal towpath into Bude in the evening. It was only a mile each way and helped work off a meal or drink in the pub. I also used it as a short circuit for running. We loved Crooklets Beach and Widemouth Bay (best for bodyboarding) and both were an easy drive from the Cosy Cakery. We had very high hopes for the Cosy Cakery and these were surpassed. We had a fabulous week there and would definitely return to the Cosy Cakery when we holiday in Bude again."

"Loved the location at the end of a country lane but also being close enough to a main route. Beautiful cottage, large airy and spacious. Sun trap of a back garden. Bonus of 3 toilets too! Our little boy lived the baskets of toys around the property and spent every available minute playing with them-a super idea.Well equipped and large kitchen. Plenty of parking for 2 cars outside the property too. Limited internet connection 3G sometimes 4g didn’t bother us as it was nice to switch off from everyday life. The towels in the bathroom were tired feeling and odd. Plus they weren’t big enough to wrap around your body. All our ‘group’ 4 adults commented on this. They were only big enough to wrap round our 4 year old!!! Bath towels or bath sheets would have been better than a small hair towel! Also if you are having children stay in the property plastic cups/glasses plates/ bowls would be a good addition. There was one child’s fork in the drawer but the rest of the set-knife and spoon were missing. Another thought would be to put some tea towels in the kitchen too rather than just a towel/tea towel-much more hygienic. We went through all the drawers but couldn’t find one. However we all really enjoyed our stay at The Shippon and would recommend it to family and friends in the future."

"Good cottage quite small with lovely wood burner, suitable for 2/3 people and a great base for seeing Bude and then rest of Cornwall. The 2nd set of stairs are pretty tricky to get up, but a good sized double and comfortable bed at teh top floor of the cottage. The smaller single bedroom is also a walk through for the next set of steps, so suitable for a child maybe! Lovely big bathroom and fancy bath which was good. No garden but a front table space outside the property for teas and coffee’s outside. Overall was happy and thought the cottage was a bargain, but would recommend for using as a base to see Cornwall and getting out as space is limited in the cottage. The village of Stratton was small and extremely lovely and it had a great pub called the Tree Inn which did some amazing food. Bude is wonderful to visit also. April 2012."

"We stayed at the Cosy cakery 15th September 18. The cottage itself is lovely, it is very well equipped with everything you would need for a week inc towels, games, DVDs, shower gel, toilet rolls etc. The scones and welcome pack were lovely. There was myself and my partner and for us we found that the cottage was located in a great area, quiet and close to the cycle path into Bude. We would recommend driving to Wadebridge and cycling the camel trail into Padstow. We also went on a hike from Rectory Tea Rooms which is a 15 minute drivr from the cottage, they do a beautiful afternoon tea and are award winning! While you go to the rectory tea rooms you can also do the coastal path to see Hawkers hut. Thanks again Pauline it was a lovely stay. X"
