What our customers say about their holidays

    • Kirsty - Verified booking

Treetops is the perfect layout for a big get together, whether that be friends or family.

It is a great a space to allow for people to all be together or to spread out and have their own space when needed inside and outside! There is ample parking for multiple vehicles. The bedrooms were all a good size and a mixture of non ensuite and ensuite which. We found that all of them were suitably quiet so that those who went to bed a little earlier weren't disturbed by the group who had stayed up. There are doors on all of the communal areas which really helps to reduce the noise carried throughout the house this is something I have found lacking in other large accommodation and although a small detail, it makes a big difference! The living room was perfect for us to sit together, with large comfortable sofas and lovely big windows which opened out onto a balcony area with a wonderful view. The TV has an HDMI port which we attached our Amazon Fire Stick to and were able to have our music on whilst playing games and catching up with each other. The outside area is absolutely perfect. The heated pool and hot tub are wonderful and there is plenty of space to sit outside and enjoy the weather. The sides of the pool can be raised so you can have it fully enclosed or let some air in and be able to chat to those sitting on the picnic tables if you want to. We didn't use the BBQ but it looked in great condition. There are power points in the man cave so we were able to plug in speakers and play music from our phones outside. The kitchen is a good size, the oven is PERFECT for cooking for a large group and the fridge is very large with ample space for food and drink. The hosts were swift and friendly in their responses before and throughout the stay and we couldn't have really asked for anything more. Check in and out was easy and well instructed and we had the luxury of a late check out on the Sunday which allowed us a last dip in the pool which was a lovely end to our trip. TIPS for future visitors; BRING WITH YOU: toilet roll, dishwasher tablets and charcoal if you wish to use the BBQ (check with the host before, but we needed to top up on these things whilst we were there). The living room and kitchen table are perfect spaces for games so if you love family games bring some with you! NON DRIVERS: If you don't drive and you need to get a taxi from the station, pre book! We arrived and quickly realised that the taxi firms in Abergavenny are small and were all booked up leaving us with a 2 hour wait for the taxi. I would recommend just booking a few days in advance for both your arrival and departure. POOL COVERING: we struggled to close the covering after we opened it but then realised there is a knack to it, if you try and mimic the curvature by pulling the bottom of the panels inwards (if you are inside the pool area) whilst pulling down this makes it a lot easier (watch your fingers!). OVERALL: I would definitely recommend this location to large groups, I actually can't wait to go back again and will definitely be doing another trip to Treetops, it is idyllic with everything you could hope for.

Such a beautiful and peaceful setting with stunning views from the cottage.

A perfect base to explore Monmouthshire and beyond. Extremely comfortable living area, with handy downstairs loo, and comfy beds with soft mattress toppers. Well equipped kitchen, and we especially appreciated the welcome basket containing their own hen's eggs, Welshcakes, milk, tea and coffee. The highlights were watching the sun go down from the wonderful hot-tub after a day exploring, the frequent visits from the friendly hens and the sheep in the field next-door, watching the owners' horses pass our lodge and being able to have our own dog stay with us in a safe environment. The owners were so friendly, recommended local pubs, helped us fix a minor problem with the hot-tub and chatted about their very much loved animals, whilst respecting our privacy. We arrived in foggy conditions and got confused with the directions (the Glen View sign was difficult to see in the fog around the bend, need a NEON one please ;D ) and I would recommend a mirror in the bedroom for drying hair. Other than that it was perfect and we loved every minute of our week's stay. Thank you so much <3

      "A Cozy Retreat Worth Repeating!

" I stayed here at the end of November 2024 and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience! While I rated it 4 stars, just a few small improvements could easily bump this to a 5-star stay. The accommodation was cozy and well-equipped overall, though the kitchen could use a little TLC. A few more oven trays and matching glassware, plus a fixed rubber seal on the oven, would make it even better. The hot tub was a standout feature—perfect for relaxing—but a simple addition like a coat hook for towels or dressing gowns near it would be the cherry on top. What truly added charm to the stay were the friendly, free-roaming chickens on the farm. Their curious antics were delightful to watch, and they even contributed to a generous welcome pack on arrival with delicious eggs —such a thoughtful touch! I would absolutely return. The accommodation was comfortable, worth every penny, and a great way to experience the beauty of South Wales. With a few tweaks, it could become a perfect countryside getaway!

The listing does not state that the heating is controlled remotely by the owner.

The property was musty and cold and also damp and mouldy in the lower floor, with plaster /paint blowing off the wall - photographic evidence supplied to owner, who after 3 days sent in cleaners who of course couldn't deal with it due to the nature of the problem. Previous tenants had written dusty in lampshade, again photographic evidence supplied. Bed and sheets marked - stained under bed protector. Floor not clean under sofa's. reclining sofas very uncomfortable and broken. Kettle broken - replaced after exchange of email, washing machine broken - fixed after exchange of e-mail. Awful smell in kitchen drawers which cleaners after three days found was due to smelly wooden chopping boards. Lots of cracked bowls. In our opinion paintwork throughout premises certainly needs refreshing inside and out. This could be such a splendid property with a heated pool, jacuzzi and load of space, but it is in our opinion tired an unloved in its present condition

We absolutely loved our week staying at Top Lodge.

The owners are on site, very welcoming, friendly, helpful and informative. The listing states the wrong address and driving directions. The owners have informed Sykes but it hasn't changed. The post code is NP16 6LZ. The What3Words is ///magnum.intersect.panthers There were a couple of maintenance issues that the owners did their best to resolve and the main bedroom would benefit from a chair to put clothes on and a mirror to enable us ladies to do our hair and make up. There are a fair few scuffs and marks on the walls but it doesn't deter from the overall comfort and enjoyment. We had our dogs with us who also enjoyed their stay and especially the close proximity to Wentwood Forest. We had a lovely welcome pack waiting for us and we found the information pack to be very helpful. The beds were so very comfortable and my husband hated leaving the reclining sofa behind! All in all we loved the place and look forward to returning one day.
