What our customers say about their holidays

We were very disappointed with Sunny Croft.

Although the surfaces had been cleaned and wiped down there were cobwebs in the corners of each room of which some had spiders in them. It seemed as though there used to be carpets in the bedroom which had been taken up and the floorboards just left as there was old paint on them. The sofa in the front room seemed to be missing the back cushions as they just had scatter cushions on them whereas the chair had a back cushion. We asked for a new filter for the hot tub and a floater for the chlorine tablets. The chlorine tablets were just placed in the top of the filter so dissolved too quickly to last the week and the filter that was in the hot tub was very dirty and way past it's life span. There was a filter in a container in water by the hot tub that was better than the one in the tub but we had to clean it out with the hose. We were advised that there wasn't any new filters or any floater for the chlorine tablets. The owner did get 2 people to come round and replenish the chlorine tablets but they didn't seem to know how to maintain a hot tub as they were going to shock the water which would've meant that we wouldn't have been able to use it for 24 hours. Luckily a member of our party has their own hot tub so were able to let them know not to do this. The garden needs some maintenance especially at the front of the house. The bathroom has recently been renovated which is really nice but I'm not sure why they didn't knock the toilet wall through to the bathroom as the toilet is situated on it's own. This is the same for the fridge as it's not situated in the kitchen, it's in the larder. This property could be so much more if a bit of tlc was spent on it. We will definitely not be revisiting.

Sunny croft was a great base in order to explore the area .

The house is beautiful and comfortable and the garden was a lovely place to relax after a day exploring. My little furry friend especially loved the garden though there were some areas where she could of escaped so garden not fully secure though we were with her when she was outside anyway . Whilst using the amenities of sunny croft we found that the kettle was full of limescale so probably could of done with a descale . Had to boil a pan of water to make a brew . Also the little fridge freezer kept on freezing all our food so had to throw out food stuff so had to buy food on a daily basis for our meals so could probably do with an upgrade there . Also my main concern was that my dog and us kept getting bitten whilst there . I also found a flea in my brew . We were fine before we got there as I spray my own house and treat my dog accordingly and have no problems at home . So this definitely needs addressing . Probably due to having different dogs coming and going . So I'm now having to wash everything I took down there and re spray my own house just in case I brought them home with us .

Accuracy of listing - garden wasn't entirely dog friendly as the chicken wire attached to the bottom of the main gate was fixed only along its top and side edges - the bottom of the wire could be pushed through, as our dog tried to do.

Had to place a piece of wood along the bottom of the gate to block this off for the duration of our visit. Cleanliness - generally ok but some utensils had food residue on them and there was a noticeable amount of black dog [?] hair under the main double bed [hoovered up by us on departure] Facilities - real problems with the hot water throughout the week. The boiler rarely fired up for that [although the central heating was ok] and getting hot water from the taps was a bit of a lottery. Showering was very difficult [as noted by a guest in 2018 per the visitors' book]. Pressure to the system was ok so suggests the boiler needs a service? The double bed could do with a tightening up! On a general note we were surprised there was no food waste recycling facility and no guidance on recycling generally [we had to look up on the Dorset Council website what the local recycling arrangements were]. Other than that we had a very enjoyable stay. Loved the hot tub!

We stayed at Sunny Croft for Christmas and was pleased to find it decorated with Christmas tree, lights and other ornaments.

The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and had festive treats such as mince pies and bubbly, plus something for Molly, our Border Terrier. Thank you, a very nice touch. The bungalow is very well equipped, we had everything we needed to cook our Christmas dinner and beyond. It's warm, clean and comfortable and made an excellent base to spend Christmas week. We didn't venture far afield, spending the week relaxing and watching TV although we did get out and about locally enjoying the various footpath and bridleway walks in and around Broadmayne. Sunny Croft is one of our top ten places we've visited and can recommend it. Broadmayne has a well stocked and busy shop as well as an excellent pub that serves wonderful ales. We also recommend eating there at least once, the food and service is quite exceptional.

Set in a wonderful location and the garden was lovely.

It was good to know we could relax knowing our dog was safe to run free. The hot tub and garden made this property. A few days into our stay we had concern regarding the colour of water in the hot tub, we contacted the owner and she came immediately to resolve. Inside the property, well this was disappointing. On arrival all the windows had been opened, it soon became apparent why, the fusty smell was awful. Despite having the windows open daily the smell never went. The first thing we did when we arrived was clean... cobwebs high and low and more spiders than I care to remember. Overall the property needs some modernisation and at the very least a properly fitted loft hatch, and boarding to seal the internal cupboard and fireplace in the dining room.
