Thanks for a very comfortable stay.

Everything was very clean and it's been very effectively modernised. Lots of lighting for our hours spent reading whilst the weather blasted outside! Walkable to everywhere - the car didn't move in our 5 days. Could've done with a bit of grass for our well-trained dog to wee on, but otherwise v dog-friendly with good walks and friendly pubs nearby (tip: go north up the Rodwell Trail to find a big playing field within half a mile for off-lead fun). Hot tub lovely! Kingsize bed on the top floor was very creaky and squeaky (hopefully fixable) but everything else v well-maintained. The heating is *very* effective thank goodness (v wet and windy weather during our stay!) - though this also meant the very cosy duvets were too hot for us. Also the pillows were all v soft - one of us needs a firm pillow to help with snoring. We've noticed most hotels and cottages put a mix of pillow types on the beds these days, just in case! But these were tiny details and we'd happily stay again. Poor Weymouth currently lacks much to do in winter weather - other than the horrifically expensive Sealife there's currently no museum or cinema, and the only proper bookshop seems erratically half-open and poorly publicised (we only found it by accident at 66 Park St on the day we left). Very many of the old houses are now holiday cottages so perhaps we're part of the problem - not enough locals keeping the town going all year? Not enough employment out of season? Hopefully things will look up at some undefined point: museum due to reopen when? Pavilion promising to run films 'soon'? We couldn't find out. The pubs, hotels and shops seemed to cling on by their fingernails in Feb, yet it's a really lovely and well-preserved historic town that deserves so much more, with some lovely arts and crafts shops (and a good range of others). It has good trains and could boom like Brighton if it just got a bit more year-round investment. Fingers crossed for our next visit!

We were very disappointed with Sunny Croft.

Although the surfaces had been cleaned and wiped down there were cobwebs in the corners of each room of which some had spiders in them. It seemed as though there used to be carpets in the bedroom which had been taken up and the floorboards just left as there was old paint on them. The sofa in the front room seemed to be missing the back cushions as they just had scatter cushions on them whereas the chair had a back cushion. We asked for a new filter for the hot tub and a floater for the chlorine tablets. The chlorine tablets were just placed in the top of the filter so dissolved too quickly to last the week and the filter that was in the hot tub was very dirty and way past it's life span. There was a filter in a container in water by the hot tub that was better than the one in the tub but we had to clean it out with the hose. We were advised that there wasn't any new filters or any floater for the chlorine tablets. The owner did get 2 people to come round and replenish the chlorine tablets but they didn't seem to know how to maintain a hot tub as they were going to shock the water which would've meant that we wouldn't have been able to use it for 24 hours. Luckily a member of our party has their own hot tub so were able to let them know not to do this. The garden needs some maintenance especially at the front of the house. The bathroom has recently been renovated which is really nice but I'm not sure why they didn't knock the toilet wall through to the bathroom as the toilet is situated on it's own. This is the same for the fridge as it's not situated in the kitchen, it's in the larder. This property could be so much more if a bit of tlc was spent on it. We will definitely not be revisiting.

Sunny croft was a great base in order to explore the area .

The house is beautiful and comfortable and the garden was a lovely place to relax after a day exploring. My little furry friend especially loved the garden though there were some areas where she could of escaped so garden not fully secure though we were with her when she was outside anyway . Whilst using the amenities of sunny croft we found that the kettle was full of limescale so probably could of done with a descale . Had to boil a pan of water to make a brew . Also the little fridge freezer kept on freezing all our food so had to throw out food stuff so had to buy food on a daily basis for our meals so could probably do with an upgrade there . Also my main concern was that my dog and us kept getting bitten whilst there . I also found a flea in my brew . We were fine before we got there as I spray my own house and treat my dog accordingly and have no problems at home . So this definitely needs addressing . Probably due to having different dogs coming and going . So I'm now having to wash everything I took down there and re spray my own house just in case I brought them home with us .

Accuracy of listing - garden wasn't entirely dog friendly as the chicken wire attached to the bottom of the main gate was fixed only along its top and side edges - the bottom of the wire could be pushed through, as our dog tried to do.

Had to place a piece of wood along the bottom of the gate to block this off for the duration of our visit. Cleanliness - generally ok but some utensils had food residue on them and there was a noticeable amount of black dog [?] hair under the main double bed [hoovered up by us on departure] Facilities - real problems with the hot water throughout the week. The boiler rarely fired up for that [although the central heating was ok] and getting hot water from the taps was a bit of a lottery. Showering was very difficult [as noted by a guest in 2018 per the visitors' book]. Pressure to the system was ok so suggests the boiler needs a service? The double bed could do with a tightening up! On a general note we were surprised there was no food waste recycling facility and no guidance on recycling generally [we had to look up on the Dorset Council website what the local recycling arrangements were]. Other than that we had a very enjoyable stay. Loved the hot tub!

What a wonderful place to stay!

We are a family of 5, with three children (ages 11 -17) and the property was perfect for us. There was plenty of space and it had everything we needed to make it feel like a home away from home. The hot tub was great for relaxing at the end of our fun filled days. The location was great. The harbour and main beach were only a short walk in one direction, whilst there was a lovely little cove we could stroll to in the other. Parking isn't available directly at the property but there is plenty of space nearby and for us this wasn't an issue. Although we didn't meet the owners, we did have contact with them as they got intouch to prior to our holiday to make sure we had all the information we needed and to wish us a happy holiday. They left a lovely welcome basket too. All of this was very much appreciated. We wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this property.
