What our customers say about their holidays

    • Matt - Verified booking

The property is very centrally situated, even in this relatively small market town.

It is set behind a pub, which can get noisy in the evening with their beer garden a few feet from the front door of the property. The front/main bedroom is also opposite a street lamp which is very bright (although does get switched off later until early morning again. The parking is great - do get the side alley key from the cottage before you unload your car, as it makes it a much shorter journey! The cottage is well equipped, but recommend on bringing your own 'essentials' like milk - we stay in a lot of these properties and it is often hard to predict what will be provided as a 'welcome' pack, and you can assume very little here, which is fine if you know that. We found the provision of dishwasher tablets (a couple), washing machine powder/tablets (none) and toilet paper (not enough to last us (2 adults) the week) was sub-optimal, so again, be aware of that and plan ahead. Food highlight was the mobile pizza van - order on line and pick up from the very-near-by centre of town. Indigo indian was ok. Angie's cafe did a great breakfast with some friendly banter thrown in too. We had a great stay and this really is a wonderful location for long walks and town shopping.

Dealing with you was really easy and fast.

Only problem we had was the three notifications of cleaning up when we left. Of course we clean up. We are in our 70's and alway leave a place as we find it, apart from the necessary, ready for the cleaners. This cottage does not sleep four adults. The bed in room two is a king single, two children but never two adults. The main bed is a standard double, ok for small adults, hence we used both beds. Cottage is ideally situated in middle if town, perfect location and we had a lovely three days.

Lovely property, great location, convenient parking.

Very clean, and being dog friendly our beloved Spaniel Poppy could enjoy the holiday too, with some magnificent walks to be had around Hay right from the door. A bottle of wine , some milk and chocolate biscuits awaited us which was a thoughtful touch from the owner. We gave already decided we shall return for another visit. One very minor nit-pick - there were no dishwasher tablets so we couldn't use the dishwasher, but overall the property is excellent and we had a lovely holiday in it.

We had a great stay at Regent House for my mother’s 94th birthday! This happily coincided with the Hay Christmas Fayre, which was lovely. We could easily have walked into Hay, so a great location if you like walking and don’t have a 94 year old with you! Back into Hay for food at the Three Tuns, which also went well. When we weren’t eating out, we enjoyed cooking on the Aga. We appreciated the convenience of the petrol station shop next door for forgotten items like shampoo!

A gorgeous, quaint, cosy cottage situated just a short walk from all the shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants.

The walks around Hay-on-Wye are beautiful with stunning views, walks along the river and the odd waterfall here and there. Getting back to the cottage after a long walk was just perfect! Light the log burner, open a bottle and just sit back and unwind. What more could you ask for!? Thank you Steve and Wendy for a wonderful week and giving us a detailed tour of your cosy cottage. Would definitely recommend this cottage to friends and family!
