    Ipswich Holiday Cottages

Famous for being one of England's oldest towns, dating back to the 8th century, Ipswich is steeped in history, hosting a diversity of buildings from evocative eras, including superb Tudor and Elizabethan structures. This is a town that is truly alive with character and nostalgia. Once graced by the likes of Charles Dickens and painter Thomas Gainsborough, we're certain that you too shall find pleasure in this beautiful town.

Taking a relaxing stroll down the atmospheric waterfront, you can enjoy the hustle and bustle that radiates from the popular bars and cafes. You may then go on to discover one of Suffolk’s most treasured buildings: the exquisite Tudor Christchurch Mansion, which holds one of the biggest collections of Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable paintings outside of London. Alternatively, you may enjoy submerging yourself in the natural wonders that can be found in Holywells Park, with its stunning trees and ponds extending over 28 hectares.

At Snaptrip, we'll help you find your dream property in the perfect location. With thousands of listings and partnering with the largest cottage providers in the UK, we feel confident that we'll be able to find what you're looking for. Got a question? Our customer service team is available to help you - they’re just an email away!

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Andy - Verified booking

On the whole an enjoyable holiday in Suffolk staying at the old stable.

A couple of things to note that may be of interest to future occupants:- 1. The hot water pressure to all basin taps and kitchen sink very poor (3 in all). 2. The significance of the nearby public bridleway that crosses the property was very much downplayed. There were literally dozens and dozens of walkers from time to time, including most with dogs, ( some off the lead) making their way past the house effectively through the garden. We had on one occasion one owner who'd lost control of their animal as it made its way into the kitchen whilst we were having breakfast!!!( Our door was open as it was a beautifully hot morning). If privacy is important to some tenants whilst sitting out in the sun, you will not find it here. Having said that, we were out most of the time so weren't too bothered ( most people were friendly however, if not a little awkward themselves being so close to us at the times we spent outside). 3. The shower room w.c seemed very weak in its flush. 4. The bathroom basin seemed to drain very slowly and became almost unusable by the final two days ( may just need some sink unblocker)... Whilst these points do imply a negative picture somewhat, they are fairly minor and didn't negatively impact our stay but they do need raising as without honest appraisal, people can't make an informed choice. We had a great stay and came away having had a lovely break in a beautiful setting...

We booked this cottage over Christmas to celebrate a special birthday with the family. Our group consisted of 7 adults and 5 children. The cottage was lovely and spacious with 2 large reception rooms and open plan kitchen/ dining room. It was warm and comfortable with gorgeous views and countryside walks locally. The kitchen was well equipped, just lacking a few basics such as covered dishes suitable for the oven. Also there were not enough chairs for us all to sit round the table. The utility room was large and ideal for muddy boots and coats. The bedrooms were comfortable although the master bedroom had no shaver point or mirror to use when drying your hair. One of the blinds in the main lounge was faulty and could not be let down. In several of the bedrooms and the bathroom on the ground floor there were loads of dead ladybirds and flies in the folds of the roller blinds.Having said all that we had a lovely stay at Foxhole Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our time away and would recommend this property.Suffolk Hideaway were good at answering any questions and were very helpful in allowing us into the cottage early.

We had a wonderful long weekend here. The venue is great, loads of space for everyone both to be together but also to have quiet time. It's well equipped, clean and comfortable, while also being just the right side of shabby to be relaxed. Really helpful communication in advance. Three bedrooms are twins with no ensuite but one nearby shared bathroom (we somehow couldn't quite work this out in advance from the floor plans). The garden is huge although the ground is very uneven. One guest was a wheelchair user and the ground floor was sufficiently accessible. The four year old enjoyed the rather rickety pedal car etc. The location is really perfect as there are so many walks nearby without a car, or a short drive away. A stall just round the corner was selling farm produce which helped top up our shopping with eggs and veg etc. Overall a lovely, quiet and rural environment for our celebration, easy to get to from London and elsewhere.

The charming and peaceful location is lovely but could not quite compensate for the fact that this pleasant house has seen too many visitors and now needs to upgrade some tired and rather grubby (it has to be said) floor coverings and soft furniture.

Obviously, your publicity photos were taken a long time ago ! The patio furniture was comfortable but crammed onto a poor space which could do with a pressure wash and some attention to encroaching vegetation. The front large patio, ideal for al fresco dining, was devoid of any furniture at all which was a pity and equally needs a good scrub. Hot water was ‘on demand’ but our demands were often ignored, particularly at the bathroom wash basin and the shower controls were aging and rather ‘cranky’ . You’ll love the location but perhaps conclude, as we did, that it’s time some money was spent to upgrade the facilities as this cottage does not currently justify the premium price bracket that it’s in . Our hosts were friendly and approachable and in spite of the criticisms we enjoyed our stay not least because of the glorious September weather.
