What our customers say about their holidays

    • Martin - Verified booking

The cottage was a fabulous place to stay.

There was a welcome pack on arrival (Coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits, bread and milk), the owners exceeded our expectations. A wonderful touch and it was very appreciated. The cottage was well stocked with everything we needed and was furnished to a very high standard. Andrew, the owner, was very helpful and gave advice on the area. We always find showers in holiday cottages a bit of a let down compared to the one we have at home but the owners hadn’t skimped on their choice of shower, it certainly matched the one we have at home in both power and space. If you like to be connected to the internet you won’t be disappointed staying here. The TV is run through the internet therefore you have a good choice of channels and whilst we were there we never lost connection on our iPads/computer. This cottage is situated in a lovely area suitable for walkers (I was more than happy), golfers (my husband was spoilt for choice) and a treasure trove of places to visit. There is only one thing I would point out, if you have a problem getting up stairs this cottage may not be for you. This is an old building, beautifully refurbished, however the staircase is not to today’s requirement, it is a little steeper than modern staircases, there is nothing the owners could do to rectify this. Having said that I would highly recommend this cottage and will hopefully return.

We had a really lovely stay from beginning to end.

The accommodation is really homely and has everything you might need. Was also a very thoughtful Welcome Pack, including something for the dog. There was even a hose in the secret garden to wash down our very muddy dog after walks! Laurence was really friendly and quick to respond to any queries during initial settling in as well as offered great recommendations. Both pubs, within walking distance, were very friendly yet very different. The people in the village couldn’t have been more friendly. The main road is surprisingly busy but did not detract from our stay. Great walks locally and plenty to see further afield too. Melbourne Hall and Pool walk is well worth a visit, as is Calke Abbey and Foremark Park and reservoir. We would definitely be back!

My stay at The Dairy was everything I had hoped it would be.

The hosts of this small, family run business were so welcoming and friendly, and the property itself was exactly as shown in the photos......characterful and pretty, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, with the addition of a lovely, secure patio area that was dog safe too. There were thoughtful additions of milk, a bottle of wine, a bowl of fruit and some tasty bakes, and the property was was fitted out with all anyone could need for either a short or long stay. Set on the edge of a tiny village, but by no means remote, i found it a perfect place to stay and to relax, and I'll definitey be returning. I would highly recommend the Dairy to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable base for visiting the area.

The cottage is perfectly located for visiting all the local sites of Leicester and the surrounding area whilst be positioned in the pretty village of Cossington. Friendly local pub a stones throw away and although we didnt eat there it looked good - nice spot for drinks after a full day. Parking is convenient, either outside on the street, in the parish car park just behind the property or in one of the quiet side streets. Very comfortable beds and tastefully decorated cottage. We had a couple of issues when we arrived which were speedily sorted by the owner who was very responsive and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend Pump Cottage.

A perfect location for our get together.

A beautifully appointed and stylish cottage, it had everything we needed. Two spacious double rooms and two cosy single rooms. We enjoyed a drink in the sunshine in the secret garden to plan our activities. Plenty to see and do in the local area, The Ferrars Centre and Garden centre were a highlight, Melbourne was great for shopping. Dinner at the Staff of Life, within walking distance of the cottage, was really good. And Calke Abbey just up the road. The owners of the cottage were very accommodating and let us know they were on hand should we need anything. Clean and comfortable - we highly recommend this cottage as a lovely place to stay.
