What our customers say about their holidays

    • Andrew - Verified booking

We booked this fabulous property as part of my wife & my 60th birthday year celebrations & stayed with our immediate family incl 2 dogs.

The house is shabby chic & was perfectly imperfect for us, not pristine but very comfortable & somewhere we could easily relax & enjoy ourselves. The main bedrooms are large & the beds are very comfortable. The photos don't do justice to the amount of downstairs space there is which has 4 main areas being the lounge, the snug / games room, the huge kitchen / diner & the big garden room. The house has everything we needed & more & it's located in a beautiful area with many varied walks directly from it, to a huge local forest, the beach & coast or heathland (or a combination of the 3?). There's plenty of parking for 5 cars or more. We had a fabulous week here with family & friends visiting & we made lots of happy memories & we were very sad to leave. We are thinking about making this an annual pilgrimage, we will definitely be back.

      Had a really fabulous time.

. walked on the wonderful beach twice a day with the dogs.. we all loved being here... Skylarks abound, in flight and on the ground - awesome.... Nice coffee in the carpark cafe there too. Didn't manage to get to partake of the DingleBarn tearoom sadly: wrong timings for us. Had pretty good weather once Storm Kathleen had blown herself out! Little Owl was adorable, a real star of a find... So beautifully peaceful. We've already booked to come back in October!! Can't wait. Would appreciate a Visitor's Book so we could write comments on where we found to be good and well worth a visit and, too, where to maybe avoid. Kitchen blind needs attention as it doesn't wind up except with strenuous thumb-work.. Need a decent breadknife too. Glad we had our phone-torches to walk back in the dark from carpark at back of barns...

Very comfortable cottage, but needing a bit more care on basic items.

Exterior light does not work, due to broken switch in hall. Lighting in sitting room poor. Light bulbs either side of tv too glaring and bright. Need to be replaced with soft white bulbs. Lights above sofa stuck on dim as dimmer switch does not work. Kitchen very well equipped, but a colander and a pair of kitchen scissors would help. Lovely comfortable sofa and gorgeous bed. Slept so well. Thank you. Best vacuum cleaner we have ever encountered in a holiday let. We appreciate that it's early in the season, but when we sat outside, the impression was of a lack of attention to the exterior area. Not a pleasant place to sit. It just looked unkempt. All this sounds very critical, but it's a lovely cottage, and could be so much better if more attention was paid to the little things.

We had a lovely week and the property is ideally situated to the coast.

The pictures on the site and descriptions are not totally accurate and although lovely to have big tables to sit round there was nowhere for us all to sit comfortably together. The pool table was a bonus. The level of cleanliness could have been better there was clear evidence of pets, hairs over the upstairs Rugs and old balloon, dust etc around the sofas in the conservatory. The were no hand towels left for the 3 sleeping at the top of the house. It is a lovely property, the garden was very safe for our 2 year old to enjoy especially when the rabbits and deer came calling. Finally may be good to mention the parking area is also access for the adjoining property. We had to move cars for them to gain access especially with the gated area where work is being done.

Lovely cottage, but not quite right for us.

Ample parking is a bonus in Dunwich, and the cottage, although small, is comfortable and well equipped. Location couldn't be better. We had 2 major issues, which may not be a problem for other renters. The listing details do not make it clear that the small bedroom is accessed through the large one, and that all the facilities for storing clothes are in the small bedroom: in effect this is a one bedroom cottage. It is challenging for people with mobility difficulties, as the stiff gate and 2 steps from the parking area to the garden are difficult to negotiate, and the shower is impossible for less mobile people to use. I would happily return to the cottage again by myself or with a partner, but it was not an easy stay for my friend, who has mobility difficulties.
