What our customers say about their holidays

    • James - Verified booking

Really loved your cosy cottage and the surrounding area was simply outstanding.

Air was clean and fresh and the garden was very peaceful. Fabulous views from every room towards the Cairngorm Mountains. The cottage had a very homely feel, really loved the Aga in the kitchen and the open fireplace in the lounge made the evenings very relaxing. It was great to have Sky tv in all the main rooms and the wi-fi worked very well. We didn't need a thing in terms of cooking equipment, bedding or towels. House is very close to Loch Insh where we enjoyed all the water sports on offer and we spent a fascinating day at the Highland Folk Museum just up the road past Kingussie. Aviemore is a great little town with a good range of shops, restaurants and supermarkets. We enjoyed a ride on the Strathspey steam train which departs from Aviemore Station thrice daily for a return trip to Broomhill. The farm shop at Rothiemurchus was also outstanding and we hired bikes for a wander up the mountains nearby. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thankyou very much for the time we spent at Baldow Cottage. We'd certainly love to return, already thinking about dates for next summer....

Cottage was very well located, very central to all the main attractions of Highland Perthshire and the Cairngorms National Park.

It was comfortable and cosy with a lovely open fire and Sky TV in a number of rooms. Facilities were good, especially the Aga but cottage would have benefitted from an additional toilet/bathroom as the cottage sleeps 6. Cottage is very spacious with lots of outdoor space but would benefit from an outdoor table and chairs in the summer months. Views are excellent from the cottage but unfortunately the land in front of the cottage is currently being developed for housing and there was a substantial amount of noise from the diggers which woke us up early some mornings. Hopefully this all be sorted soon. Make sure you ask for key collection details at least 48 hours in advance as we struggled to get them in time for our visit. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found Baldow Cottage excellent value for money, well equipped and extremely well located.

The cottage is easy to find, although no longer painted red like the photo !

It is located on the edge of Kincraig, opposite a path that takes you a short stretch along the road and then through the woodland to join the Speyside Way. The field opposite is for sale for residential development which would be a shame as we were able to observe red squirrels on the edge of the wood, as well as roe deer with fawns , from the kitchen window. We took bird food with us for the table in the garden and soon had lots of birds visiting. The house is well equipped , we had no experience of cooking with an Aga but soon got the hang of it. Great sized fridge with ice/water dispenser. Comfortable beds and excellent shower. Lots of space for 4 of us, with a large entrance area for coats & boots. Good location close to lots of walks. Between us we ran, walked and cycled so fully explored the area.

The wrong indication of Baldow Cottage`s location at google maps etc.

is very unfortunate. We believed to have booked a remote cottage in the mountains north of and far from the A9. Instead the cottage is located inside Kincraig beside the B9152 which passes the garden and turned out to be very noisy from heavy traffic. Furthermore the images provided are not up to date esp. as far as the view out of the windows is concerned. You do not look out on to a nice meadow but at the houses of a new settlement. We recommend to let customers know this before booking. To find sleep in the first floor with the AGA oven set permanently to level 5 (as instructed by the owners) is a challenge when outside temperatures are above 25°C over the day and do not fall beneath 20°C at night. In the end we enjoyed our stay in Baldow Cottage because the surroundings are outstanding.

We stayed at this property previously in March 2022 and if you look back at my review then you will see it was very positive and in fact we loved the property.

The property is still excellent in most ways but one thing did spoil our stay this time. The property seems to have had its patio doors and windows replaced since our last stay. Last year the double patio doors and 2 windows either side had blinds fitted but this year there were no blinds fitted. There is a public footpath a matter of a few yards in front of the patio windows plus a main road at the side of the property and we had the feeling, especially in the evenings, of living in a gold fish bowl. Last year in the evenings, perhaps in bad weather, or simply relaxing with our family having a meal or watching TV it was nice to pull down the blinds and relax in privacy - we didn't feel we had that privacy this time.
