Located in a peaceful Highland farming area, Wagtail Watch is a just few minutes from the village of Laggan. The cottage is in the South West of the Cairngorms National Park, surrounded by the Monadhliath and Grampian mountains. Whatever time of year you visit, we know you will fall in love with Laggan, with its mountain scenery, wildlife and easy access to local activities. The BBC TV series Monarch of the Glen was filmed locally so fans might recognise filming locations. Laggan is great for walking and seeing Highland wildlife. Local attractions include Dalwhinnie Distillery and the Highland Folk Park in Newtonmore. Younger visitors will love the Highland Wildlife Park and the Landmark Forest Adventure Park. You can expect a warm welcome at local café just 10 minutes’ walk away. Stroll down for breakfast, lunch or a coffee and try their amazing baking! The cafe is open daily except Monday.
Wagtail Watch is a traditional single storey cottage, built in the 1990s. The lounge has stunning views over the valley and has a smart TV with Freesat, and also a DVD. There is an open fireplace which adds to the cosy atmosphere, especially on autumn evenings when it’s getting chilly and the evenings are getting darker. You can enjoy eating together in the kitchen/dining room, and there is a utility room at the back door where you can hang up outdoor clothes. The double bedroom with en-suite shower room is at the front and looks over the valley, while the twin and single rooms look to the mountains behind the house.
The cottage is set in its own fenced grounds in an open wooded area overlooking the valley with plenty of parking space. There is a picnic table in front of the house, so you can enjoy al fresco dining on the long summer evenings we get in the Highlands, or just sit down with a coffee taking in the lovely views. Wagtail Watch is in a quiet rural area where you can see the stars and listen to the sounds of nature. Those of a romantic nature might enjoy dropping off to sleep, lulled by the sound of the breeze in the trees and the stream bubbling over the stones.
