We loved our stay at this gorgeous cabin in the woods.
Considering it's a wooden cabin it was very clean, the cleaner does an amazing job, even the random metal and glass shelving unit hung high up on the wall was clean. Couple of water stains on some walls as mentioned in a previous review, but we thought that was to be expected, it is a wooden cabin in the woods, in Scotland, where there us a lot of rain after all, but even with them it was clean. We read a few negative reviews about the bed, and on getting in it on the first night, we thought this is a bit creaky and much too soft, but we had a week of some of the best nights sleep ever. The kitchen is very well stocked with all you could need. There are DVDs , books and games there if needed, we didn't use them, but seemed a decent selection. We were lucky with the weather so didn't need the heating or log fire, but it's there if needed. The hot tub is fabulous, a lovely place to chill out in. The brown water takes some getting used to , we ended up buying bottled for drinking and cooking because it's so off putting, even though we knew it gets tested. Lovely views all around and a couple of bird feeders outside kitchen window, that I kept topped up with seed, so had some lovely visitors, Robin's, wrens, coal and blue tits, and quite a few chaffinches. Gordon was friendly and helpful and at the end of the phone if needed, with the added bonus of a couple of lovely dogs that visited and went straight in the pond in front of the cabin. There is a road near the cabin as mentioned in a few reviews, but we can honestly say it didn't bother us in the least, you get used to the traffic noise, and you cant see it except for occasional flashes of the tops of cars through the trees at the side of the cabin. But it comes in handy for services getting to the cabin. The only slight thing that would make it a touch more user friendly would be somewhere to hang stuff, there are lots of shelves, but because no ironing board or iron, I had to hang a few dresses and things on shelving brackets near the sofa, so they got in the way a bit, and also somewhere at the hot tub to hang towels or dressing gowns. But that's all, we loved it and can't wait to go back. There is some stunning scenery all around and it's the ideal place to relax.

The Log Cabin is a lovely little retreat, it's well maintained and there are little touches thoughtfully provided like toilet roll, hand-wash, and all your pot washing requirements!
When you go away to self catering places your never sure what's going to be there on arrival and on this instance, after a 10 hour journey the little things mattered! The bed was made up on arrival and was comfortable to sleep on. Unfortunately it's midgie boom in Scotland, the joys of nature, I always have my citronella/tea tree oil with me but there was repellent bands and bite cream thoughtfully provided. Definitely worth baring in mind if anyone is journeying up to Scotland this year to be prepared for them! We were checked on by Gordon to see that everything was okay and the hot tub was regularly maintained, although we didn't use it. His dogs would pop by every few days to say hi as well. My partner is a wheelchair user, he can use crutches for a small amount of time. We manged to get to and from the property with me taking his wheelchair in and out as there is basically a log step on a slope to access the cabin area and then a step up onto the cabin veranda, with a small lip on entry! The shower is a cubical with an open front (shower curtain), standard toilet height. So if you've got your travel aids to help on holidays then you can make places work for you. It's a lovely tranquil setting, great place to recharge and switch off for a while. Oban is a 15 min drive away, I'd recommend the green seafood shack near the ferry docks if you like seafood! Like most rural locations if you want to go places they are a drive out, but so worth the stunning scenery.

Absolutely stunning views and looked peaceful on arrival but then we realised we were 50yrds from a road , although not majorly busy it still ruined the tranquillity of the cabin .
The cabin had dirt and water stains on the walls especially the corners of the cabin and the bathroom had water and mould stains on the woodwork which is probably due to no extraction fan in there and The bathroom shelves looked like they hadnât been cleaned for a while . The bed mattress was really uncomfortable and you can feel all the springs which didnât do well for me or the wifeâs backs and so much that I left to go home early on the third night of my stay because I didnât fancy another night in that bed and drive 7hrs home after ! The hotub wasnât the best and had a murky pee colour too it but that was explained by the caretaker but still it looked so uninviting due to the discolouration and the gazebo/canopy over the tub looked like a useless diy joiner put it up and looks bad ! This cabin doesnât deserve the high price tag and I only paid for it because it was our tenth wedding anniversary and be truthful I was very disappointed at the standards of the cabin and tub and was a very long way to travel to get there . Paid a lot less and got a lot more comfort and cleanliness from other cabins we have stayed at in the past !

We arrived a little early at the Cabin not a problem as cleaner had been in .
Gordon gave us a warm and friendly welcome with his dog and ran through the whole process quickly The cabin is exactly as we expected small but perfectly comfortable in a fantastic setting in lovely well kept grounds two mins walk from the river and about 15 mins drive from Oban there is a River lodge and House that are let out too but we never saw not heard a sole The Cabin although small was perfectly adequate good shower, cooker ,sofa and everything needed for comfortable few days away supplied The hot Tub was a t the side of the property and was lovely on acokd winters night The log burner was great to really heat up the cabin on the cold winter nights(there are another two heaters) and Gordon even restocked the firewood on last evening as we'd had it on a lot lol Water was checked regularly by Gordon along with hot tub etc We will definitely return in the future as it was just what we wanted a relaxing break with a wintry Xmas feel Thanks again and see you again soon Thanks so much for a wonderful stay Kevin & Gwenda

The cabin is petite, but well equipped - we were very happy there for the week.
Whilst we were there it was warm enough to sit out to eat which helped: if it had been colder, a foldaway table and chairs inside would have been handy - thought the lap trays were great. Cabin is really cosy inside. Loved the hot tub, and was visited by nuthatches and tree creepers running up the canopy supports and nearby trees! The pond and grounds are lovely - we saw red squirrels, and we think we were visited by the pine marten at night. Others have noted that its actually quite near to a road: it is, but we were not bothered by that at all (we live in the countryside so are used to quiet) - the trees screen much of the noise and its quiet enough, especially at night. Despite being so close to the water we had nil midges (which was a relief!). Its in a great location - well connected, easy to get into Oban/ferries, and lots of beautiful places to visit in the area. Finally, the chap who keeps the grounds - and his lovely dog - were very welcoming and looked after us well.
