What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Aspey - Verified booking

We have recently returned from a lovely holiday at the Old Gardeners Lodge. The property is in a quiet position up a steep hill about a 10 /15 walk from the seaside town of Saundersfoot .The accommodation although very small and compact has everything you need for a short self catering break. The owners are very friendly and informative about the local area and although you are staying in their garden, it still feels very private as you have a small outside seating area if you are lucky enough to have good weather. There are some beautiful coastal paths close by and some lovely places to visit .The walks to nearby Amroth and the National Trust Colby gardens are well worth a visit as is the costal walk to Tenby(but be prepared as it is a very long and sometimes very steep walk)We got a taxi back for £8 to save our legs !! I feel like the Old gardeners lodge is very good value accommodation if you are mobile and like to do a lot of walking.

After receiving a phone call regarding the late entry time I did expect the cleaner had time to clean throughout.

We arrived after 5 pm as requested due to an issue with the cleaner. After a 6 hour drive we were keen to get in having 2 young children in our party. All beds were clean also bathrooms , Kitchen was Ok. All other areas were really dusty and the house was full of cobwebs, I live in an old cottage so know cobwebs can be an issue, but the cleaner had just been in ! We had to clear brambles to make the garden safe for the children, the games room had not been looked at for weeks, dead insects all over the floor. The property is lovely but very hot(having the Aga) and noisy near the road and windows need to be open. Maybe the owner should review the cleaner they have, an unusual quirky property with so much potential. Refuse /recycle facilities not in place, we tried but had no recycle sacks. Vacuum totally fuzzed up and not maintained. We still had a lovely family holiday in beautiful Pembrokeshire.

Our stay at the Caban Y Mor was amazing!

! It was just as described on the website. We were a little concerned about the metal stairs leading up to the property as we'd read previous reviews but it wasn't a problem at all for our 1 year old puppy. The tread on the stairs had rubber matting which helped greatly. The patio was a little smaller than expected but with the beach across the road there was plenty of room for us all. There was everything that we needed and the owners had also provided an information pack which we found helpful. If you don't fancy cooking or eating at one of the dog friendly local pubs/cafe the Seven Spice Indian in Kilgetty deliver!!! We can't wait to return.....until next time

The lodge was immaculate and was furnished with every attention to detail.

The kitchen had greatly exceeded my expectations as it had everything I could possibly have wanted, the bathrooms were spotlessly clean and the bedrooms were cosy with lots of storage space and the hooks came in very useful as well. The outside furniture was again kept to a high standard as was the decking and the hot tub was maintained regularly and kept beautifully clean and sparkling. I have stayed at many lodges and can usually find a couple of faults here and there but I must say that this time I could not find one. Although we were out and about a great deal it was lovely to come back to the welcoming comfort of this lodge.

      Cons...

The mattress in the second bedroom has springs just under the surface and is very uncomfortable to sleep on. The bathroom is quite small and being a wet-room shower it tends to spray over half of the bathroom. Hence having a shower involves a lot of mopping up. No WiFi. Pros... A well furnished, well equipped, well sited chalet in which we spent a very pleasant weeks holiday. Tesco do deliveries so instead of packing lots of food you can have it brought to your door ... but book it before your holiday as no WiFi . Lots of lovely walks and beaches nearby. We would book Ty Haf again.
