What our customers say about their holidays

    • Miguel - Verified booking

What we liked was the rural and quiet location.

In addition, the landlady really tried very hard. I have to say about the lodge that the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. We had to do a thorough cleaning on the first day in order to be able to go on vacation at all. It gives the impression that the cleaning team collects money but does not do their job. For example: Dirty crockery in the kitchen cupboards. I wanted to make coffee, took a cup out of the cupboard and looked inside and outside of the cup for dried old coffee residue. The cupboards in the kitchen and the bedrooms were totally dirty from the inside, the drain from the sink in the bathroom was full of hair. The landlady has been informed about this problem and wants the cleaning team to check it, as they are rarely on site themselves. New pots should be purchased because the existing ones can no longer be used for cooking. The washing machine does not wash light-colored laundry properly, leaving stains in it after washing. In addition, the washing machine is so loud when washing that you can no longer talk. The machine appears to have ball bearing damage. However, the beds are positive, you can sleep wonderfully in them. All in all I would not book a lodge in Country View Park a second time.

Due to the fact that our Internet connection was repeatedly on our way and our route planner was unreliable, we had a lot of trouble finding the house, despite the fact that we had received the coordinates. In addition, we were severely delayed by ferry and file. However, the owner kept us in touch - every time we were able to connect by telephone - very patiently, just as long as we reached the house (one hour late). Despite the raining rain and the late time we were warmly welcomed in a lovely Cottage with every possible comfort, from power adapters to hair dryer and any imaginable type of kitchenware. Milk in the fridge, beautiful bouquets on the table, a lovely wood stove lit directly for us, hiking maps and all kinds of tourist information. A warm welcome to a delicious, green, quiet place! We can recommend beautiful walks and bird lovers, we really enjoyed two walks along the RMC. The first day we walked to Appledore along the right hand side of the canal and saw several swans, a kingfisher, reed warblers, white throats, chiffchaffs, and heard two nightingales and several cuckoos. We also heard a great number of marsh frogs. Wednesday we walked down the left hand side of the canal and heard and saw two turtle doves, heard a nightingale, saw longtail tits, a pied flycatcher, and heard hundreds of marsh frogs. We have enjoyed seeing the woodpeckers on the feeders and the beautiful bluebells in the forest. Thank you!

The Barn was fairly well equipped, apart from a shortage of mugs and we kept having to wash them to re-use. It was in a good, quiet position, off the main road between Ashford and Canterbury. It was nice not to have to worry about the rubbish as we left everything out each day and the owner disposed of it. The heating system took a bit of getting used to as on a sunny day it could get very hot and we had to close the blinds to cool it down. We were told not to open the windows! It was nice to be able to leave things for the owner to tidy up or dispose of, which enabled us to make an early start on the final day.

The cottage is set in quiet and beautiful surroundings and as a result we had a peaceful stay. The cottage is well presented with everything you'd need to make your stay comfortable. The hosts are incredibly welcoming and I get the impression nothing is too much trouble! The wood burner is a lovely addition, even if your fiancee feeds it logs a little too often resulting in the cottage becoming a sauna! The surrounding countryside is stunning and offers many excellent walks to nearby villages.I would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone.

    Leeds Castle
Set within 500 acres of stunning parkland, Leeds Castle is famously one of Kent’s most beautiful country estates and offers a wide range of attractions including hot air balloon trips, arts and crafts shops, a maze, an Aviary, a golf course, fine cafes and restaurants and acres of beautiful grounds and gardens.
    Dover Castle
A medieval castle founded in the 11th century making it England's longest serving fortress. It is located on the iconic white cliffs and houses 80 acres of grounds for you and your canine friend to explore.

    Tonbridge Castle

Tonbridge Castle is reputedly England’s finest example of a Motte and Bailey Castle. Boasting a splendid 13th Century Gatehouse, it is also surrounded by acres of beautiful grounds. An audio tour brings to life the rich history. Today the castle hosts open-air cinema and theatre nights during the summer.

    Upnor Castle

This attractive turreted castle is set in the picturesque village of Upnor within an area backed by rolling, wooded hills. The fort was intended to protect both the dockyard and ships of the Royal Navy anchored in the Chatham Dockyard which is a short distance downriver. It entirely failed at this task in 1667, when the Dutch sailed past it to burn or capture the English fleet at anchor.

    Rochester Castle

Strategically placed astride the London Road, guarding an important crossing of the River Medway, this imposing fortress has a complex history of destruction and rebuilding. Today it stands as a proud reminder of the history of Rochester along with the cathedral and cobbled streets.

    Stoneacre (National Trust)

Stoneacre is a Grade II* listed National Trust property in Otham, near Maidstone. It is a half-timbered yeoman farmer's house and garden dating from the 15th century, together with a small garden, orchard and meadows. Arts and Crafts scholar Aymer Vallance saved this mediaeval yeoman's house from destruction in 1920, and restored it into the charming house that it is today. Toilets and picnic benches.

    Hever Castle & Gardens

Hever Castle began as a country house built in the 13th century and was home to the Boleyn family from 1462 - 1539 including Anne Boleyn, the second queen consort of King Henry VIII. The castle fell into disrepair in the early 1900s. Much of what you see is the result of the efforts of William Waldorf Astor, who used his fortune to restore and extend the Castle in the early 20th century.
