What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Heller - Verified booking

Large Lodge with 3 very good size bedrooms. Open plan kitchen diner and lounge is a good size. Very large American type fridge and freezer is great, but the oven is small, so if catering for a larger family it's tricky. There is a green space on site for exercising dogs, however it is not fully fenced, and the property is on a fast and quite busy at times road. Equipment in the kitchen was ok, but short on glassware, serving dishes, and a couple of kitchen knives need replacing. Be sure to check the keysafe codes directly with the owners for the property before you arrive, as ours had been changed and we were not informed so couldn't access the lodge when we arrived. Owner did arrive to sort this out, but would be easier to check prior to arrival. The lodges on the road side of the setting have quite a bit of road noise, not an issue so much as we stayed in December but in the summer it would be a bit intrusive.

Red Poll Barn was just as expected from the description and photos.

Exceptionally clean, bright and airy, and everything was of a high standard. Just two of us were staying so plenty of room. We had glorious weather and although some days were hot and sunny, we found the high ceilings, large windows and doors to the outside decking allowed for fresh air to flow. Despite being next to another holiday let, the layout of the barn created privacy and quiet, with views towards the woods and pond. The owners were friendly and welcoming without being intrusive, and they ensured all the essentials were provided- including some thoughtful goodies on arrival. The information folder had plenty of useful details and recommendations for places to visit and eating out, with the nearest pub about a 10 minute walk away for lunch or an evening meal (a short section of the road doesn’t have a footpath, but we found it was ok). Overall a restful and enjoyable stay.

The owners are lovely and very helpful.

The accommodation and grounds was perfect, everything provided for a break away from home. Nice little welcome pack provided for our arrival and a taster of home made jam (delicious). If I have to fault anything, then it would be the seating depth of the sofa and armchair, very nice furniture, however, I had to use pillows from the beds to use as extra back support as I'm reasonably short, maybe a few extra large chunky cushions could be provided. More than happy to recommend and holiday again at Red Poll Barn.

Lovely accommodation, had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay.

We were able to borrow games, DVDs and some crabbing buckets and nets which our sons loved! Location was great, just outside of the lovely town with everything there, Butchers, Bakery, Deli, choice of Take-aways and eating out. Only 15 minutes from the beach at Southwold which we visited a number of times. We were able to take our dog which was fantastic for us as a family! Didn't need to take towels (only beach towels) which saved us a lot of space in our suitcases, thank you!

      A tastefully decorated converted barn.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay here. Jacqui and Nick, the hosts were on hand to assist with anything we needed. We celebrated my husbands 60th whilst at the barn and Jacqui even arrived with a card and a gift. We were left wine and cookies for our arrival which was a nice touch. Ideally located for the cost. We visited Southwold, Dunwich, Thorpeness. Aldeburgh and Beccles, all within a 30 minute drive. Would definitely return.
