What our customers say about their holidays

    • Laura - Verified booking

The property and furnishings are superb and Iona's attention to detail in welcoming new arrivals was outstanding, with artisan and locally sourced goodies awaiting upon our arrival and even goodies for our dogs.

The lodge was immaculate and cosy, with absolutely stunning views. I could not fault the lodge, its spec, the location, the exceedingly thoughtful gestures provided by the owners and the helpful information provided by the owners. Only recommendations I could suggest is purely for guests who would book longer next time (like me), would be: a dog gate, just to ensure the dogs are secure and fellow site users have their space respected too. A wellie and umbrella port outside (purely to keep the already beautiful lodge as dry and clean as possible, with a little more ease). A washing machine/dryer would be a nice to have, particularly if booking in autumn/winter seasons (which we plan to do), and a hot tub would be the cherry on top of an already awesome cake! This location was probably the best location I've booked so far that has ideal dog walking spots, where you're not having to worry about infringing on someone's land or bothering sheep and cattle. Its postion in the central belt of Scotland was ideal for venturing the castles, lochs, palaces, villages, cities and towns and the local watersports was a huge hit with the kids! If you like wildlife practicallyon your doorstep, be it red squirrels, birds of prey or roaming deer, this is nirvana! Site staff are lovely and very helpful too. I will be returning to Hollybirch, which I feel is the most sincere recommendation a guest can give. Huge thank you to Iona and Philip for making our stay absolute bliss!

I'd like to express my family's heartfelt compliments following our recent stay at Red Kite Lodge.

My husband, daughter, and I were graced with a delightful week; the lodge itself truly enhanced our trip. Upon arrival, we noted that the lodge was commendably clean and well-maintained, an indicator of the care and diligence that your team exercises. The heating was excellent, furnishing us with cosy evenings in, while the hot tub provided a luxurious and welcomed bonus. Further praise is due to the owner, who exhibited an excellent level of approachability and responsiveness to our queries. It is outstanding to encounter such dedication and swift communication in the hospitality industry. In light of our overall experience, we feel impelled to recommend your establishment enthusiastically to others. Your commitment to quality service is duly appreciated, and we trust others will recognise this too. Thank you once again for providing us with a memorable stay.

The area Crieff and the actual cabin were very nice, well equipped and the owner was very helpful and couldn’t do enough for us.

However we were disappointed to find the plot was still a building site with only our cabin occupied. Although this may have worked in our favour as the cabin next to us was very close (especially if you wanted to relax in the hot tub without being over looked). Unfortunately we could only use the hot tub once, as it was slightly off colour with a funny smell. We did follow the instructions on two occasions to add the chemicals but it didn’t seem to clear up. The oven and dishwasher tripped whilst we were there and again no fault of the owner as we believe it may have been linked to the ongoing work on site. The owner couldn’t have done more to help and was in contact with the site manager throughout to get the problem sorted. I feel the property has good potential but we were a little disappointed with the ongoing work and the hot tub.

Lodge stunning, attention to detail amazing, wonderful views.

Lovely welcum pack for us and our little dog. A little stool at dressing table would be helpful to sit and dry hair n things, a small detail for comfort thou not a problem. Iona is so helpful and promptly dealt with our noise complaint of building works and a small plumbing issue. She cannot be faulted as a careing owner and followed up by checking we were happy and comfortable. Location was described as idylic and relaxing, on Sykes Cottages website. So we choose here to unwind and were surprised to find building work going on to finish the site. we feel sykes cottages should have made us aware of the fact and let it be up to us if we choose to go during this time. We would gladly go back when work has finished as it will be the perfect retreat then to relax and unwind.

Great place to stay just such a shame about the weather.

Welcome pack for us & our dog was very nice touch. On Sykes website it says gated deck & then it says be aware deck is not gated but it is so dog can be secured on deck. The only thing that was a bit misleading was that until we got there we didn't know that we would have to take our dog offsite to toilet him. There are plenty of walks & generally thus wouldn't be a problem but most days it was torrential rain so this wasn't ideal. Also a little bit of information about how to use microwave, what to do with rubbish etc eoukd have been useful. These are only minor issues but otherwise can't recommend the property more highly & would love to stay here again.

    Drummond Gardens

One of Scotland's most significant and magnificent formal gardens is Drummond Castle Gardens. It was built in the 17th century and is situated in Perthshire close to Crieff. In the 19th century, the gardens underwent a renovation and were terraced. The formal gardens you see today were recreated in the 1950s, but many of the original elements have been preserved, including the old yew hedges and the last beech tree Queen Victoria planted to remember her visit in 1842. Car park, accessible routes, refreshments, dog friendly.

    The Glenturret Distillery

The Glenturret Distillery is Scotland's oldest working distillery. Glenturret whiskey is still traditionally crafted by hand, as it was over 250 years ago. Several tours and tasting sessions available at the distillery. Shop, cafe, and Lalique Boutique Michelin starred restaurant. Free parking and WI-FI.
