What our customers say about their holidays

We had a brilliant week in Aviemore, the location of our little chalet was perfect, 5 min walk to the town, peaceful, beautiful garden and a great pub along the street - The Old Bridge Inn.

We couldn't have picked a better place for the location. The chalet was a great base, we went to Loch Ness, Glenmore Forest, Cairngorm Mountain, Carrbridge, Ardverikie Estate, Castle Roy and had a lovely walk around Rothiemurchus on our last day. The chalet was comfortable, the bedroom was huge and the bed was comfy. Good storage with lots of drawers and wardrobe space. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed although we only really cooked breakfast there. The kitchen cupboards and cutlery drawer need a clean though and old mugs with chips need removing. The shower was good but difficult to set the temperature, there's a knack to it. Wi-Fi was really poor, neither us could stay connected for long so we ended up turning it off, it didn't bother us much as we had 4g but worth bearing in mind that it could be difficult for planning walks/downloading maps if you are relying on the Wi-Fi. The balcony was great, our dog loved sitting out at night but I'm glad he didn't see the chickens and rabbits in the garden every morning! The chalet could do with some modernisation and although it was clean, the light fittings could do with a deep clean, cobwebs around the windows and the kitchen cupboards. They're the kind of things you ignore in your own house until you get around to it so it didn't really bother us. Small improvements such as hand soap and a guest book (I like to see where others have visited and travelled from) would be welcomed. Communication with the host was really easy, her Dad lives next door and is a really amiable, friendly man as well. Overall we had a brilliant week, we were lucky with the weather and would definitely stay here again when we return to Aviemore. A great little find in a stunning part of Scotland.

This is a fantastic alpine style lodge in the heart of Aviemore.

There is very easy access to all the amenities Aviemore has to offer and we were never far away from something to do, Rothiemurchus being virtually on our doorstep and the skiing 20 minutes up the road. For walkers there are plenty of routes for all abilities, be those easy strolls around Loch Morlich or for the hardcore, Cairngorm itself. For the scotch drinker the surrounding towns and villages are a mecca, with so many famous distilleries being fed by the Spey river. Everything is easily accesible and well serviced by road (except when the snow gates are closed!). We also took the train and spent a day in and around Inverness, and found the service to be very reliable. All in all we had a fantastic week, doing good things, in a beautiful place with friendly people. What's not to make us come back again?

The accommodation was lovely, well situated for the event we were there for (Thunder in the Glens) and already booked for next year.

The shared garden was lovely and the gate at the bottom which lead to a bridge over the burn, into a meadow and then through some trees to the banks of the Spey was a favourite of my two dogs who joined me for the latter part of the booking after the rest of the party had headed home. The big doors to outside from the family room were stuck, probably swollen from the amount of rain in the area this summer but that was a minor inconvenience which we didn't bother the owners with, other than that the accommodation was near perfect, the one thing that was missing for pet owners I think was a fenced off area for the dogs to sit outside (mine are still puppyish so a secure area would have been welcomed), that secure are under the upper veranda would have made the near in 'near perfect disappear'.

The chalet was in a great location .

But on arrival very dissatisfied as the chalet was not clean . I had to spend money on products to clean . The worst areas were the kitchen and bathrooms . Could not use any pots pans as filthy . Nearly every dish was chipped . Cooker ,microwave dirty . We ended up eating ready meals and couldn't bear to prep food . The chairs in the lounge were stained and dirty and we had to buy throws to cover them so we could use . Very poor info just leaflets on cooker heaters ..... bathroom smelt horrible . Would not return and very hestitan to Rebook through Sykes cottages . I sent owner a polite text explained we were dissatisfied and reply back comments previously from others said the same as us regarding cleaning so why dint the owners clean or check before our arrival . Regards Alison .

Inside entrance porch, mat dirty & with leaves, the kitchen was disgusting, oven, hobb & surrounding area- filthy, couldnt use oven, was so bad.

We bought bleach to soak a chopping board from bolognese orange to white. Bathroom was worse with splash back & mirror not clean, sink & pedestol black, also shower inside & out black, long time of hair not cleared, drain cover removed as water filled tray up almost out the shower door. Carpet on stair badly stained as was downstairs bedroom carpet, long time of dogs taking its toll. My husband cleaned cooker hobb, oven door, cleaned out drain in shower so water could drain away.sink & bottom of pedestol. Upstairs was spoiled because of black dog hair on wooden floor. A beautiful chalet spoiled as it had not been cleaned in long term, would not go back. Can attach photos of said complaints.
