What our customers say about their holidays

    • Rebecca - Verified booking

The cabin itself is a lovely holiday home.

It has lots of mod cons, is clean, spacious and well thought out. Really handy to have the washing machine, air con and of course the hot tub. However, we booked the holiday in the expectation of a peaceful and relaxing stay. When we arrived at the property the first view is that of a building site. On top of that the daily wake ups in the 7s to the noise of workmen, bobcat machines and power tools was very disappointing. We appreciate that work needs to be done but this is misleading as the work is not on a neighbouring property, it is on the same site. Having a hot tub is lovely but in the main we had to use this in the evening when the building work had stopped. Parking is also an issue. There is space for 2 vehicles but this is tight and the access is tricky. On numerous occasions my vehicle hit the underside of the road on exit as there is a dip in the road that cannot be avoided when work vehicles are parked and building materials are also in the way. The access down to the cabin is also steep and so not accessible for all. All I all when completed the site will be lovely and we can see the vision. However we were expecting, and paid for, the finished article which is not what we got and this is disappointing. We booked the holiday over a year ago and whilst there is now a line on Sykes' website to say there is work on 'a neighbouring property', we were not aware of this when the booking was made and would not have booked had we been aware. It is a lot of money to pay to have to then compromise on your holiday experience.

The property itself was lovely, well thought out , decorated, very clean and well equipped however we should have been informed of the building work taking place in the main house which went on the whole time we were there, starting at 8am.

It was not the best welcome, arriving onto a building site with the sound of banging and an angle grinder, not exactly the peaceful retreat we were hoping for, especially as we left our own renovations for some peace and quiet. Sitting outside was limited due to the noise. Unfortunately due to the temperature of the property too (glass box) we had to have doors & windows open too so couldn’t avoid the noise that way either, unfortunately the air conditioning was not sufficient in the front room. The footpath down to the property needs to be looked at too as the newly laid sandy surface washes onto the deck and steps and enters the property which makes for additional cleaning. There are a few issues with drainage in the en-suite too, we chose to not use this shower in the end and only use the main bathroom. Hot tub needs to be cleaned and maintained during weekly stays too. There is also a slight issue with privacy as the other rental is close and plants are not established yet so with two glass boxes, you can see clearly into both properties and across to both hot tubs. Blinds would be nice on one side and would help with the sun & temperature too. Given the issues above I feel we paid too much for our stay this time and were disappointed but made the most of the beautiful local surroundings as much as possible. That being said once the issues are addressed and building work is completed this will be a gem of a place to stay and we would definitely want to return. Thank you

Lovely property (ie building) with good facilities eg underfloor heating, hot tub, washer etc spoilt by poor quality, cheap plates and cutlery and bath mats etc.

The property was ridiculously hot and we really struggled to cool it down. The cleaning was not up to standard there was no attention to detail eg there were lots of cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, there was a thick layer of dust on the hairdryer box, the bin was left dirty and the kettle needs descaling, The drive to the property was in poor condition and we scraped out car as we entered the property due to the parking of workmen working on the house there. The bin system consisted of a bin and 4 different bags and we received a lecture from one of the workmen who was not happy about how we had place things in the bags The steps and path down to the property were step and full of leaves and not well lit at night our daughter fell down and hurt her hip definitely not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties The hot tub was overfilled and was hot on arrival which is unusual because usually the water has been changed and the hot tubs are not up to temperature The property is within easy walking distance to Tenby. Overall we were disappointed We were going to take our dogs but actually we didn't when we changed the booking to include the dogs the click of one button and one email was sent we were charged £30 by sykes for doing that but it did not say anywhere before we made the change we would be charged for this I wont be booking with sykes again

The house itself was excellent, it was modern, very well kitted out with everything we could possibly need which we really appreciated.

The staff were friendly & helpful. However it wasn’t very private, blinds on the side windows/screen fencing would’ve prevented the people in the next cabin from watching us in the evenings & when using the bathroom at night. We did not appreciate next doors dog running straight through the patio doors into our kitchen & bedroom & think the gardens should be enclosed for this reason. The uneven steps & steep bank down to the cottage were difficult as I have mobility issues, this should’ve been clearer in the listings. A handrail down the steep hill would help others. The parking was very difficult, the spaces were too small, the turning space & entrance blocked very frequently with cars & lorries. We couldn’t use the outside seating & hot tub as we wanted & had to keep doors closed because of all the building noise & smoke billowing from the building site which was part of the property. We understood this work needed to be done but it was very unfair to expect paying guests to put up with it on their holiday!! I think the listing price should be reduced until the work is completed as unfortunately we did not have the quality of holiday that we paid for. For this reason we will not be back or recommending which is a shame.

      A lovely lodge.

Well equipped with all that you need on a very quiet site. The power shower is incredible and the bed so comfy you dont want to get out of it!!! The owners left an emergency pack for the dog and cake to welcome us which were both a really nice touch. You can walk to the nearest beach which is about 0.8mile away. The beach is dog friendly and there is a good pub down there too (also dog friendly) a little bit further down the road is Amroth where the New Inn does amazing food and is again dog friendly. The lodge was in an ideal situation to explore Pembrokeshire. Whether you want castles or beaches or adventure parks, all are within at most an hour away. We were really amazed at how dog friendly Pembrokeshire is with the majority of beaches being dog friendly all year round. Also worth a visit are The National Botanic Gardens and the Blue Lagoon. The best beach we found for excellent facilities was Coppet Hall Beach, very small but the cafe and toilets there were brilliant. If you want shops, a short walk away is Saundersfoot . All in all a lovely place to stay and the lodge as a base was superb.
