Beach holiday accommodation for fun by the sea

With nearly 8,000 miles of coastline, the UK has more than its fair share of excellent beaches waiting to be explored.

From rugged pebble beaches to idyllic expanses of golden sand from the top to the bottom of the UK, there are some truly breathtaking spots for the perfect seaside holiday.

With Snaptrip, you'll find plenty of amazing beach holiday rentals, from cosy little hideaways off the beaten track to elegant seaside apartments in popular seaside towns like Whitby, Weymouth or St. Ives.

Whatever type of beach holiday in the UK you're searching for, at Snaptrip, our handpicked selection of beach self-catering cottages will help you find your dream home away from home.

Beach weekend breaks throughout the UK

With incredible beaches in every corner of Britain, your only challenge is choosing the destination.

Cornwall and the south coast are especially popular with holidaymakers, including surfing enthusiasts and water sports lovers, and with stunning beaches like Weymouth, it's easy to see why. Head to the south coast for an unforgettable beach weekend break full of surf shops, seafront restaurants, gift shops, plenty of tourist attractions.

The UK distinguishes itself on the world stage for its history and long heritage of seaside towns like Whitby, Western-super-Mare, and Blackpool. Springing up in the 19th century (thanks to the advent of the railways) these towns still retain their charming historic character, with Victorian pavilions, fun piers and promenades and, of course, donkey rides. Everything you and your favourite people need to make memories you'll treasure forever.

The magical land of Wales has some of the world's most dramatic and rugged coastlines, with hundreds of bays, craggy landscapes, and hidden coves just waiting to be discovered.

For bracing and scenic walks, head to Aberffraw in Anglesey. You'll find a beautiful sandy bay with rocky headlands and dunes rich in wildlife. Harlech Beach in Gwynedd boasts a four-mile stretch of golden sand, grassy dunes, and epic views of the Snowdonia mountain range. Rhossili Bay in Glamorgan is listed among the top ten beaches in the world. The three-mile shoreline is soft and sandy and the Bay is under the care of the National Trust.

If the wild land of Scotland is calling your name, why not stay in one of our beach cottages scattered throughout the country? Scotland is home to some of the most bewitching beaches in the UK.

Calgary Bay on the Isle of Mull is a nature lover's dream. A wild and windswept expanse of white sand, crystal clear water, wildflower meadows, and even a hidden castle. Yellowcraig Beach in East Lothian inspired Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island map. It's a beautiful place to experience the rawness of nature, fly a kite, paddle in the sea, and whip up a sandcastle. Machir Bay in Islay has more than a mile of soft sand, blue water, and stunning cliffs for incredible walks.

Whatever part of the UK you choose to take your beach weekend break or staycation, you'll find the ideal beach self-catering accommodation with Snaptrip.

Find your dream beach holiday rentals with Snaptrip

The UK's coastline rivals any in the world, with something for everyone to enjoy.

With extensive coastal trails like the South Coast Path and many remote and picturesque strips of sand and holiday resorts, our range of beach accommodations offers the opportunity to stay in a beautiful home right in the centre of the seaside action.

Choose a pretty barn in West Cornwall complete with idyllic views and your own hot tub. Or why not have an adventure in Somerset and base yourself in a fairytale thatched cottage with a private garden? Visit Devon and spend your days splashing in the sea before heading home to a cosy cottage in the middle of the countryside with the beach right on your doorstep.

Whether you're looking to soak up the sun and relax or embrace the wild shores of Wales and Scotland, a beach holiday cottage gives you and your favourite people the freedom, luxury, and convenience of your very own little space by the sea.

    Why book with Snaptrip?

If there's one place where you get a sense of the UK at its best it's along the coast, and what could be more quintessentially British than a cottage by the beach?

Snaptrip has thousands of beautiful cottages, lodges, apartments, and houses to choose from, perfect for romantic getaways, family holidays or surf trips with your best friends.

We've scoured this diverse country to handpick the best beach holiday rentals so you don't have to. What our customers say about their holidays

    • Duncan - Verified booking

      Fabulous location.

Easy reach of all amenities, five minute walk to seafront, pub/restaurant, supermarket and ten minute level walk to town/shops. The fairground was literally on the doorstep but we were never bothered with any noise whatsoever. The accommodation was spotless and very comfortable and well laid out with a separate area with a shared washing machine and chest freezer. The setting is excellent, central but secluded for privacy. The outdoor seating area is great with a suntrap setting. This was a great base for exploring the wee gems of Norfolk and the local area. The owners left us some helpful tips on local eating places and we were never disappointed. The seafront promenade was excellent for walking to town and was clean as a whistle. The local council were out every morning sanitising all benches and hand-railings due to the current Covid-19 situation and gave us great peace of mind in these challenging times, well done Hunstanton Council. This was a great location for a short or extended break and we will certainly recommend it and we would not hesitate to return here. We will certainly recommend Sykes to our friends and family as their team were on the ball from start to finish with regular updates and advice for our holiday, well done, 10 out of 10.

Lovely oak beamed cottage just a short walk away from the beach, pub (Marstans) and supermarket (Tesco).

The place is spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds and nice furniture. The dressing table/drawers in the double room should be replaced by a slimline wardrobe like the one in the room with two singles as it's too messy having your clothes hanging around on the hooks. The kitchen is adequately equipped but would have benefited from a fridge with a freezer compartment rather than just a fridge. (I notice from "Alison" a previous reviewer that there was a shared freezer, washing machine and dryer, but I wasn't aware of this during our visit). The tap in the bathroom was almost impossible to switch off so reported this. I should have also reported that the big overhead shower doesn't work and that the vertical drawer next to the fridge is broken (hopefully these will be rectified soon). A note should be left about the fact the floor floods if you don't take the plate off the plug hole! There are some nice touches though... a small supply of tea bags, coffee and sugar when we arrived, along with dish soap, scourer, dish cloth and tea towel. There was also hand soap and air freshner in the bathroom. We enjoyed a very comfortable stay overall and managed to have supper out on the patio two nights of our stay.

I have to say that I was disappointed with the property and didn't feel it represented value for money.

The rain shower didn't work, all clogged up, the lower power shower, couldn't be used to its full potential because it flooded the bathroom, a good couple of inches in the whole bathroom. I called the owner to be told it does that, remove the drain cover and it should be ok here are a couple of towels to mop up the water. So I asked for a mop so I could mop the water up first then use the towels to dry off the floor to make it safe to walk on. The cupboard next to the fridge was broken and the fridge door bashed against it every time you opened and shut it. Couldn't get the central heating working so it was cold in the evenings. You were given a key for each french door but you couldn't operate one of them. Didn't like the clothes rail in front of the french door, this was instead of a wardrobe in the master bedroom. Thankfully the tap in the bathroom was replaced nearly at the end of our stay because we really struggled to turn it off and on. There was no where to put your showergel etc in the shower other than the floor. Would I go back again no.

A lovely, cosy little cottage, very clean and welcoming.

In the write up about the cottage it quotes - Settle down at the dining table ready to tuck in, or venture out to the enclosed garden and base yourself amongst the shrubbery as you toast to a memorable retreat; treat yourself to a long soak or warm shower as the dishwasher takes care of your dirty dishes, and spend some extra time completing your skincare routine before winding down in the lovely double bedroom. Although no dishwasher was listed in the kitchen equipment we were further teased to have 2 x dishwasher tablets put out for us! We never did find the dishwasher. Problems with the TV only managed to get BBC iplayer, we don’t go on holiday to watch TV but couldn’t get the other channels quoted in the cottage handbook. Internet was slow or non existent at times but appreciate this maybe the location. Would recommend and the little outside patio is a real sun trap and quiet.

    • Mark - Verified booking

The cottage is in a stunning location which makes it.

However, it wasn’t entirely clean, there were finger nails on the table underneath the cook books. There were also no settee cushions (only decorative ones) on the backs of the settees making for very uncomfortable seating. The mattress in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable. The hot tub was dirty (I have photographs) and so full of bubbles and chlorine (because it hadn’t been cleaned) it stung our eyes. It also ruined my silver jewellery, which I have never had a problem with wearing in a hot tub before. Again down to the amount of chlorine. My jewellery is very sentimental to me as most of it was bought as gifts from friends and family, so this I am most gutted about. Unfortunately I will not be recommending this beautiful cottage based on the above.
