What our customers say about their holidays

    • Confirmed Guest - Verified booking

Welcome pack was excellent , the bed itself was very comfortable, and the hot tub itself was great and the location for walks was relaxing. However, there was only one breakfast cereal bowl which was a bit strange and very few utensils like table spoons and serving spoons so it was hard to serve anything up using small spoons, and there should be more tea cups as three is not enough. The TV should be bigger and the sofa smaller as we had to keep moving it to either open the doors or turn it to watch the TV. One major issue is the safety, you do not mention in the write up that it could be unsuitable for the older person or people with mobility problems, the stairs to get into the property are quite steep and if someone has a suitcase and is not so mobile this could be an issue. Getting into the hot tub could also have an impact as the steps are low and there is not a handrail. The bath also needs a handrail to get in and out of or change it for a shower cubicle which would be better and to get into the far side of the bed is also difficult. But for us it was fine but I can see potential problems with some but with some changes could be better.

We feel so lucky to have found The Garden Room. It’s the perfect little bolthole for a peaceful escape. Nestled in a secret location in a tiny village near an ancient church with a 1000-year old yew tree, it’s totally private. The cosy room has everything you need - it’s absolutely immaculate and beautifully appointed with a well-equipped kitchen and snuggly linens. The hot tub is absolutely superb - properly hot and spacious with powerful roiling bubbles. We visited in late October and the weather was appalling, so we couldn’t enjoy the delightful garden as much as we would have liked, but it was lovely to gaze out onto. We did get out on one wonderful circular hike between downpours with our little dog up to Ditchling Beacon from a public footpath just yards from the door - gorgeous views at the top. The generous welcome treats were well beyond our expectations - we are so grateful and we didn’t even have to go out shopping for basics after arriving! Great pub food, groceries and beaches are just a short drive away. We definitely plan to return.

I couldn't fault anything about our stay at all. We had the best, most relaxing time and were so lucky with the weather. Upon arrival, the apartment was imaculate. It literally has everything you need and more. We were so grateful for the welcome hamper, and the freshly baked bread and cake was the cherry on top! There was a slight issue in setting the hottub which Liz sorted asap and even baked us an extra cake as an apology. The issue was out of her control but I couldn't resist the second cake as it was so good. Nothing seemed like too much trouble if we needed something. We were lucky to have glorious sunshine so asked to use the BBQ whilst we were there. Liz was over within the hour getting this out and ready for us to use. I will most definitely will be booking to come back in the future.

Very well equipped studio apartment. Location is perfect for walkers with many footpaths onto the South Downs from the village. The welcome basket was by far the most comprehensive of any that we've received in twenty five years of self-catering holidays, and the owner even added gluten free groceries to the basket as I had mentioned that I was GF when booking. The only suggestions that I made to the owner related to the practicalities of accommodating walking boots and wet weather gear in the apartment - I suggested a larger doormat and provision of a cordless vacuum cleaner rather than just a dustpan and brush. I have no hesitation in recommending both the apartment and its location.
