What our customers say about their holidays

    • Adele - Verified booking

Excellent instructions to find the cottage and a warm hello from the owner next door.

Fresh eggs, flowers and Welsh cakes provided and a small bottle of milk. All looked lovely .. but then I started to notice that the cottage needed a good clean. In the kitchen the outside of the kettle was stained with splashes of cooked food. The top of the toaster was covered in crumbs. An old and stained brush, cloth and sponge had been left to use by the sink (new cloth and sponge avialable under sink). Kitchen radio, dirty, grey. Top of microwave rusty. Inside of microwave under glass plate dirty. Lumps of black hair on the bedroom floor (dog?) Blanket on foot of double bed covered in black hair. Sheet/duvet on lower bunk bed covered in dog hairs and lower sheet gritty to the touch. Dead flies on the windowsills. Extension lead in bedroom covered in black hair and stained. I could go on (I took photos). The following day I went to see the owner to ask about the dog hair and the sheets. I was told a couple of black labs had stayed a few weeks back! They did volunteer to come in and clean and change the sheets. I took clean sheets for the bottom bunk bed and changed them myself. I felt uncomfotable with the general state of cleanliness. One ring on the cooker also did not appear to work. The cottage is in a lovely location. Comfy beds and a pretty garden ... BUT it needs a good scrub from top to bottom. The kitchen was well equipped. But found black hairs again in some dishes and on plates. We ran everything we intended to use through the dishwasher. I feel unhappy about publishing all of this and can only assume we were unlucky at this property, as no one has mentioned cleanliness as an issue before.

This was our second stay since last year.

( We enjoyed it so much that we booked again as soon as we got back.) The peace we get from staying here is second to none. Each morning we get up to fresh boiled eggs then go off exploring. Sometimes we’ve thought Wales was closed because we seemed to be the only ones on the roads driving! The people are friendly and smiley. The beaches are wonderful. The views are outstanding. We even enjoyed the 20 mph speed limit at times because it gave us a chance to be nosey at the passing houses etc! I’ve read some of the reviews and must say none of the negative ones apply when we’ve stayed here. The bed is ultra comfy. We sleep so well here in the quiet and darkness. The wrap around garden is dog friendly and you can watch the sun set and rise. The dipping swifts and bird sounds along with the occasional sheep, cattle and chickens all make for a relaxing stay also. I even heard an owl- not having heard one since childhood. The cottage was clean and so were the utensils etc. The sheets are spotless as are the white towels. Every thing you need for a stay is here. If you expect never to find a cobweb or a spec of dust then I suggest you don’t book to stay in a cottage that is a converted barn in the middle of a field! Thank you Diane and family for looking after us so well.

Our first impression of the property was great, the description on the Sykes website is accurate.

A very rural, peaceful setting. The cottage is warm, cosy and very comfortable. It was well equipped with everything needed for making meals. Sadly, we soon realised the property was not very clean, particularly the kitchen and bathroom. The windowsills had flies on and skirting boards were so dusty with dog hair (possibly) on them. We had to clean the bath before we could use it. We washed all the kitchen crockery, cutlery and equipment before using., and sprayed all the surfaces with antibacterial spray. Everything just seemed a bit grubby. One ring on the hob didn't work. One side of the toaster wouldn't stay down so had to keep a figure on it to toast the bread. It's such a super property, but needs a couple of days spent cleaning and general maintenance. The garden is lovely and has sun morning and evening. The bifolds were great on a sunny day, with our dogs able to go on and out. To make it fully enclosed for dogs the gate needs to be kept closed. I would recommend this property, just hoping it has a good spring clean ! The flowers, Welsh cakes, fresh eggs and milk was much appreciated.

We had a lovely bank holiday weekend.

The cottage is so peaceful. It was so good to come back to after a day exploring. We had a great nights sleep in the pitch blackness and quiet of the night. Also in a quality mattress and bedding- this makes such a difference. Lovely big towels too. Everything is laid out ready to find. Fresh flowers, eggs,Welsh cakes and milk (thank you) We didn’t use the fire and ample fuel but it was all there to use. Lovely to have a dishwasher too ( would rather have that than a washing machine any day!) For those people who say they miss a walk in shower - well you can manage quite well with what is provided (and I speak as someone who’s had 2 new hips and a knee replacement in the last 3 years!) The wrap around garden is a delight and our 2 little dogs loved running around and hiding from each other. The views are amazing- from every window. To wake up and look over the fields and hear the birds and smell the air is a such a pleasure. We were at peace here and look forward to going back. Thank you both for letting us share your home.

Property was just as described in the listing, clearly stating location and distances to facilities ie 2 miles to local village, Crymych.

Beautiful, cozy, well equipped and thought out cottage, owner Diana welcoming, but discreet, with a lovely welcome pack of flowers, eggs, milk and Welsh cakes. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable living area and the woodburner a plus! Cozy bedroom and bed but so comfortable we slept well! Lovely location ten minutes to villages and tourist attractions, and bigger towns and coastal paths not too much further. Only suggestion on how the stay could be improved; there is a Bath with ‘shower overhead’ but this is handheld only and was very awkward to wash hair and body holding shower head or putting back on tap hook. A hook on wall would be great BUT understand with sloping roof this may be the reason why it’s not but it was a bit of a palaver and was worried of making floor too wet as no shower curtain or screen. A little thing otherwise a lovely relaxing week in a beautiful cottage in a lovely part of Wales.
