What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Amato - Verified booking

Our stay at Bwthyn Blaencar Stable Cottage was really enjoyable. We were welcomed with a minimum of fuss and the written directions to get there were detailed and correct …. Don’t be tempted just to use the postcode for Sat Nav- once close - switch to written details! There is a parking space by the farmhouse so you can unload easily on level ground. The cottage is warm and there was plenty of hot water - so we could soak / shower after a couple of long walks! The kitchen is well equipped - we ate / cooked there the whole of our stay and it lacked nothing from our point of view. The cottage is a great base for a couple wanting to explore the Brecon Beacons - Pen y Fan and the Four Waterfalls walk were spectacular for scenery. We also visited Brecon, Crickhowell and Abergavenny. This is a working farm with livestock - so there are barns and farm vehicles around. The view from one of the bedroom windows across the hills is uplifting! It was very peaceful and we had a relaxing time here. Highly recommended!

We arrived at the property after travelling over 7 hours.

Deeply disappointed with the location and state of the property. Lots of items not working dirty and poorly maintained and grubby. Contacted the owner when first having issues…. No reply. However did reply immediately when I text the following morning stating we had left the morning after arriving. Having had to book alternative accommodation. Yes it was that bad! Beds were very uncomfortable, springs totally shot, shower dirty with mould and not working. Properly on a very busy road with single glazed windows in disrepair, a graveyard as a back garden. Got no more than 2 hours sleep that night. Best thing about this property was the new kettle and toaster. Have made a formal complaint to Sykes over a week ago and yet to have any response. I have used Sykes many times before but have to say I will not be using them again. Deeply disappointed ☹️

Well we certainly found a little gem of a place when we booked "the old pigsty" just what we needed.Comfortable accommodation, beautiful surroundings.Very welcoming/helpful hosts in Clive & Rhiannon..our 5 night break was spent just chilling enjoying the scenery which is outstanding through the bi folding doors.. We did walk along the canal and took a trip into Crickhowell and that was it .Relaxed on our garden furniture enjoying the sun shine( we were so lucky with the weather).Reggie (our dog) enjoyed watching the wildlife from a secure safe garden , although didn't take to kindly to the visiting squirrels sitting on the fence....Enjoyed our break from start to finish, would definatley recommend it...

    • Mr Gregory - Verified booking

Located on a well managed working farm, the property is isolated enough to offer complete relaxation and yet is within walking distance of village amenities. Swansea and the beautiful Gower Peninsular are quite close by car. Carol the proprietor is friendly and helpful and readily chats about the day to day experiences on the farm. We felt comfortable enough to wander amongst the sheep and lambs which were sheltered in the buildings at a time when lambing had just passed its peak. Altogether a very pleasant holiday.

A recreated 15th century garden contains fragrant white roses that represent Sir Roger's passionate Yorkist sympathies. Mostly accessible for wheelchair users, dogs on leads welcome, gift shop, refreshments, picnic tables, toilets, child friendly.

There are marked trails on the walk, so please stick to these and take care - some sections are steep and the drop at the top is sheer. Take a look at the 'Visit Wales' website for more information - it features the Pen y Fan walk among others.
