A comfortable, spacious and well equipped home with drive way parking for two cars and stunning views across the valley. We were lucky enough with the weather that we could eat out on the balcony on a couple of evenings which was a real treat!! Notice there is also a log burner in the living room so I imagine it would be very cosy for a winter stay. The house is a short walk to the centre of Dulverton which we walked a number of times to get food from the local store and of course to try out the local pubs, The Bridge Inn is well worth a visit! We also found the house to be surrounded by so many beautiful walks, including a nice 30 minute stroll at Tarr Steps and a lovely walk along the river at Watersmeet (approx 35 minutes from the house). We will definitely be returning to Dulverton as there is still so much to explore in the area and this wonderful home is really the only place we would want to stay now! Thanks for a superb holiday.

Dulverton itself has a variety of shops (butcher, greengrocer, fish and chip shop, co-op, pharmacy which should provide everything you need for your stay). If you want to eat out (especially over any busy holidays) you need to prebook Woods or The bridge. If you are staying new year no-where is open for a casual drink early evening. The house feels spacious, although the downstairs is just two bedrooms. The non en-suite room is a converted garage and much colder than the rest of the house. Upstairs the kitchen and living room are light and there is one more bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped to cook meals. We didn’t use the garden but it’s on a steep slope so not suitable for letting children play ball games / smaller children play on their own. We had a lovely holiday, Merrijig was fine for our stay, just not a highlight.

It's in a beautiful location, although the weather didn't encourage us to make as much use of the lovely garden as we would have liked. But the cottage remained cosy despite the unseasonable weather. There is a great collection of books about Exmoor in the cottage - as we were new to the area, we really appreciated that. As a result, we discovered some lovely spots such as Landacre Bridge which we might otherwise have missed. The well-equipped kitchen was also a big plus - I can't think of anything I might have wanted which wasn't there. We would recommend the terrific frozen meals from the bakery on the way into Dulverton; also a visit to the model railway setup behind the Dulverton Heritage Centre - fascinating even to a non-model railway enthusiast like me! Altogether, a stay at Byre Cottage is strongly recommended.

Hi We thought Byre cottage was fine and very well equipt especially the kitchen, however we did not find the descriptive instructions on how to find it that helpful, lt would have been a great help had it mentioned to folow the sign to Ashwick, as it happened we went passed this only to find we had to do a U turn. The only other negative was the distance from the allocated parking bay to the entrance with all the lugage only to find later it much shorter from the road and using the sliding door. Hoping this constructive critisim may be helpful to future clients. We did also find traveling in the area dificult with a number of closed road signs, especially the one to Tarr Steps from Dulverton, (not your fault) Regards John Tourell

At the end of a very quiet Cul de sac as you enter Dulverton . Lovely plot and beautiful garden, all open though so bear this in mind if taking dogs . A very dated property that’s in desperate need of some modernisation. Nice fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. Good central heating system . We had to leave early as Beds were so uncomfortable, came away with a very bad back . About a 15 to 20 minute walk into Town either down the road with no pavements or through the housing estate. Dulverton is in a valley surrounded by very steep hills . A very quiet little town with not much going on . A couple of pubs and a few coffee shops . Was very disappointed with the dog walking. Nowhere to let them off . No decent footpaths other than through houses . No river walk . The woods were up a very steep hill . Probably ok for people hiking through to other places . Had to go in the car everywhere. Would not return.
