"This could be a lovely apartment, but not enough effort has been put in to making the stay convenient for it's guests. It's a small thing, but there was barely any kitchen utensils - we had to buy a baking tray on the first night to cook. The thin tray that was already in the oven had bits of chip (I assume) caked onto it. Cleaning the grease of it took a while, not unlike the plates, half of which we had to re-wash. We're not sticklers for tidiness, so this was really disappointing. If you were, you might want to bring sponges and soap for the kitchen and bathroom, for which there was none. The apartment was littered with dust, cobwebs and worst of all, a constant fly infestation in the bathroom. The skirting board was also completely detached from the bathroom wall. These things individually may seem petty, but they are hallmarks of a host that does not care. We have stayed in many apartments of which all the hosts have greeted us, shown us around and made sure we were okay. We never met our host and nor did she call to make sure we were comfortable. I would also bare in mind we came in March, not exactly peak holiday season and it took over half an hour a day to get into Chester. Walking into Chester from the apartment isn't suggestible. It's off a very fast road. It's a shame to say it, but I would personally spend the extra money on a better looked after apartment in the actual city itself."

"This annex adjoined the owners home with separate entrance and parking available in front of the house. Great location. Easy to find and overlooking the canal. 4 pubs within walking distance. Probably prefer the one in the village centre. Photos are as shown on the website. No wardrobe in the bedroom but a large cupboard with hangers is provided next to the bathroom. Lovely large walk in shower. Patio door from the lounge area into small paved patio with table and chairs. Would have like a washing line to hang out the small amount of washing we did but did find a clothes aired in the cupboard which we used. You can walk along the canal path into Chester which we did several times and takes approx 40 Minutes passing a couple of restaurants and pubs on the way. Can recommend the Old Harkers Arms for a well deserved drink. A must do is the circular walk around the walls in Chester. Great way to see the city and you also get a great view of the racecourse.Overall a great stay and would recommend"

"We found the house to be in a great location and there was lots of space internally. However, some of the rooms smelt of smoke, particularly the games room and middle first floor bedroom and the kitchen surfaces were sticky. The shower rails in the bathrooms were inadequate and the temperature and pressure of the showers themselves fluctuated without altering the temp manually. The fridge freezer, for a house advertised as sleeping 9 people was far too small and the bbq was a joke as it was tiny and didn't appear to have been cleaned at all.The house just seemed a little un-loved which was a shame. There should also be more information regarding neighbours and the fact that the hot tub is on a timer, on the website. We hadn't realised that we would be unable to use it after 9.30pm!I feel that the house was over priced for the level of accommodation offered and for that reason I would not stay again."

"Lovely! We, (My Husband & I) needed a place to live whilst our own place was being renovated. Luckily, we found this place. The Barn is very spacious which was ideal for us as we had more than just luggage with us. It was very clean, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and we had everything else we needed including good wifiTo be honest, we pretty much knew what amenities were around here, as we’re from the area. That said, anybody visiting here should know that this place is very close to anywhere you might want to visit. You’ll be ideally located for exploring North Wales, Cheshire the Wirral and Liverpool Also, Capenhurst railway station is 5 minutes drive away (goes to Chester and Liverpool).Janice & Mike are very accommodating and fully understand what travellers need and their accommodation offering fulfils that completely.Totally recommended!!Wendy"

"This holiday let fell short of our expectations. The location is excellent, close to the canal tow path, 5-min walk to Park&Ride service into Chester and a large supermarket nearby. Our hosts were friendly and non-intrusive. The accommodation formed part of the ground floor of a pleasant home on a small housing estate and it was very odd to hear the owners moving about in the rooms above us. The kitchen was well equipped, but the oven was old and the worktops and flooring needed replacing. The shower room seemed to be a work in progress, with a very modern walk-in shower, spoilt by ugly pipework between the basin and toilet, and old flooring. I'm sorry this is not a very positive review, but with some improvements it could make an ideal base for a contract worker perhaps, rather than holiday let."
