What our customers say about their holidays

    • Trevor - Verified booking

The property is semi detached and Jane the owner lives next door.

It is very rural, between two hamlets with views of the South Downs. Jane met us on arrival and took us around the cottage and pointed out one or two things to be aware of and to show us which keys fitted which locks. She said if any issues we could speak to her as she was about most times. The cottage was very clean and carpeted throughout except the kitchen and utility area. The bedrooms and bathroom were spacious and the bed very comfortable. Ample storage and cupboards were provided. The shower has a pump system and a choice of rain shower or hand held shower and was very powerful. There was plenty of crockery, kitchen utensils etc for our needs so no problems there. Also a linen line was available to dry the washing. We were also entertained by the wildlife including birds and a family of rabbits which visited the garden in the evenings. All in all a very enjoyable holiday (helped by the good weather) and a very pleasant place to stay. Jane had a chat with us before we left and wished us a safe journey. We would certainly return again in the future.

We had a wonderful 2 weeks stay at the Old Dairy.

Endless possibilities for walking our dog(mostly off the lead, even on the beach nearby!). The garden was nicely fenced for an escape-prone dog as we have... The beds were wonderfully comfortable. The view from the cottage over the fields never became boring. Nevertheless a few critical remarks: the outside of the cottage could do with some TLC (paint...), the gate needs some repair, WIFI was mostly very poor and during our second week the TV signal was strange enough rather poor, especially at nights! Since we had al lot of warm to hot weather with a lot of sunshine we could have done with an umbrella in the garden and perhaps a few sunbeds for the lazy moments! We'd love to come back to the Old Dairy!

This is a great property with lovely views but let down by a few things.

As someone previously said, the front door locks gets jammed. There is rust at the bottom of the shower pole and mould on the edge of the shower where the screen hasn't been finished off properly. This is supposed to be a grade 4 property but don't expect fluffy towels and comfortable pillows. We've stayed at many cottages in the past and this is the first time that there hasn't been a pint of milk in the fridge! By far the worst thing was the horrendous smell of paraffin coming from the back of the cottage. We couldn't have any of the windows open at the back of the property because of the smell, which wasn't ideal when we were in the middle of a heatwave.

The Old Dairy was a lovely little cottage but seemed to need a bit of TLC.

The furnishings were of a high standard and very comfortable but the overall cleanliness let it down. There were large cobwebs in quite a few areas, the microwave had bean spots and the oven was dirty. There were only four spoons and forks so using the dishwasher would have been a waste of time. 6 lightbulbs had blown and not been replaced. The shower head holder needs to be fixed to stop the shower head drooping. The owner came to replace the broken rubbish bin and I mentioned a few of the problems. The fuse box door was taped up with black tape, he said it would cost £300 to replace so had left it. Not a good impression.

We stayed at The Old Dairy for 3 weeks with our family (including 2 little ones) it was a great stay in a lovely quiet location.

Wonderful walking trails surrounding with views and very friendly locals. The house itself was very clean and comfortable and had everything you would really need. We also got a great couple of meals at the local pub (The Worlds End) and delivery of local Chinese right to the door. A couple of suggestions would be replacing the wifi as most days it would play up and it would not be accessible. Also, we had to buy some necessities ie Salt, pepper, soaps etc that we would have expected to have been supplied. Overall a wonderful location and property, we would definitely stay again.
