"we had a fabulous holiday the swimming pool made the holiday and all the facilities were good having the animals for the children was good , the property we stayed in had a lovely garden but no sunshine came on our garden as there were several large trees which shaded this area so not ideal also the views were blocked by these trees so we felt we had to go out to get the sunshine, also the toys in the play area are a bit in need of updating and the climbing frame was also in need of updating as we couldnt let the children play on it as we didnt feel it was safe.In just a few problems with the downstairs bedroom there was a terrible smell of damp and as my grandaughter was in there with her parents it was to bad for them to sleep in there as their clothes were starting to smell of damp even after leaving the windows open it didnt go, the owner said to leave the under floor heating on but you can imagine on a hot day this was not possible, so they ended sleeping in the lounge on the sofas with here in the cot by them, there is also a bedroom upstairs on a third floor with 2 single beds in my grandson was sleeping in there we had to move him as the temperature on the night was still 30 and he was over heating this room is not suitable for children as to keep the temperature down you would need to leave a small skylight which is very low and a child could easly access , this was towards the end of the holiday so we just got on with it, we also had trouble with the cooker as 2 of the rings were not working and kept tripping the electricty and the toaster was not working properly. On a positive note the cottage was well equipted plenty of everything towels, cutlery, and bedding all clean and plenty of storage space for all food with a freezer, and large fridge and a small fridge, and the snooker table was good the owners were very friendly and like I have said the swimming pool was brilliant, we just feel that there was room for improvement especially for the children playing areas as these seemed neglected. As this was to celebrate our 60th Birthday and we were paying we were a little disappointed as we had 4 infants with us and thought the amount of bedrooms would accommadate us but due to the problems it did not, therefore we were disappointed as holidays are supposed to be stress free."

"…where to begin with a stay and an experience which just seamlessly worked so well. Yes, the weather God’s also smiled on us such that the latter part of Sunday afternoon was spent by most of us sitting out in the deck chairs facing the setting sun..it was an incredible week-end weather wise and we really could not speak highly enough of the whole experience. The house works on so many levels and we were formerly resident in the Far East and have already mentioned it (Heatherside House) to that many people that hopefully some bookings from over there might materialize in the future! We were very appreciative of your patience with our booking and how accommodating you were. I honestly looked at the Croquet Lawn when we visited the property and thought, ‘well that will be too wet or damp and will not get any use’…oh how wrong I was! The ladies who cooked were great, the food very good indeed and really this is, as I am aware you already know, a very special venue..we all had the best week-end possible, with the laser clays also being a lot of fun. Whilst we were blessed with one of the best week-end's weather for summer, let alone that is was autumn, our three days at Heatherside House were quite simply brilliant. Every aspect of our stay from the venue itself to the in house caterers and including the arranged activity of laser clay's worked perfectly. Heatherside House is simply an outstanding venue for all ages to enjoy each other's company for a few days and to celebrate any special event. Edwards Group"

"The house is a wonderful size and is perfect for a large gathering. The rooms are all spacious but the house is in desperate need of updating in some rooms. The house does not have WiFi, the owner who lives next door has the modem box in his house and the strength is not enough to come through a wall (not surprising) so it’s unfair to advertise this house as having WiFi. None of us had any phone reception either and it was lovely that no one could be on their phones but when trying to plan a day out it would have been helpful. The house needs a very good overall clean. It was very dusty and there is a lot of mould on ceilings etc. It wasn’t enough to spoil our holiday but we paid a very large amount of money for a August week and expected a higher standard for that money. There is only one en-suite, again the advert for this property says there are more. The downstairs toilet should be out of bounds as it’s leaking and there is no sink to wash your hand until you walk through to the kitchen. The bedrooms are very spacious and beds are comfortable. Everyone in our party slept well. Plenty of clean towels and hand soaps in each bathroom. Location wise it’s bliss. So quiet and local village has a shop and wonderful pub and fish and chip shop. Apart from some of the negatives (all easily fixable!) the house is wonderful. I just wouldn’t agree that the rate to hire reflects what you get."

"Went for a 'girls' weekend (to celebrate my 60th, so not youngsters!) and had a wonderful time. The location was superb and they even arranged the weather for us :))The owners were very friendly and we were welcomed with home baked fruit cake, lovely tulips and fresh milk. Tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper were all provided. We were also supplied with freshly laid eggs on the Saturday morning.Although there are 6 bedrooms, one is really only suitable for children, being up in the eves (so low headroom) and accessed by very narrow stairs through the 5th bedroom. Also there are just 3 toilets (2 in ensuites, one of which had a bath, no shower) and 2 showers, which was fine for the 6 of us but probably rather spartan for 12/13, which the property can sleep. However, I imagine it would be ideal for a couple of families with children. The swimming pool and hot tub/spa were a much appreciated facility :) There was also what appeared to be a well stocked games room, with a table tennis table, but we didn't get around to trying that out."

"We had the most fabulous Christmas – almost the whole family from ages 4 to 78, and the time just flew by. Christmas Eve we dressed for dinner, canapés and champagne by the log fire, then dinner by candlelight around that huge table in the dining room. Christmas Day was a really relaxed affair – presents round the tree, a treasure hunt (ideal house for that) and silly family games. The children of all ages loved the games room and the barn, and the cooks gloried in the huge kitchen. A real old-fashioned Christmas, with lots of photos to aid our memories for years to come. Things we particularly liked though were: the huge centre work surface in the kitchen, with TWO dishwashers, the courtesy lighting in the skirting upstairs, the boot room (VERY useful), lots of fridge space, and lots of logs for the log fire. Many thanks for all your help throughout our preparations, and best wishes for for next year."
