"We absolutely loved our stay at Briery Fields. After a couple of times driving up one lane tracks to get to the property I stopped shrieking at Sally our sat nav and opened my eyes to admire the hedgerows! ( I like white lines down the middle of the lanes!).The facilities were excellent. A pint of milk in the fridge might be good. Every self catering property we've stayed in to date has always had some milk on the fridge as some people might have travelled a long way and need a cuppa when they get there. I think I read that someone else has said this, either on this site or Trip Advisor. There is the addition of a handsome little white and black cat who loves your company. He knows the cottage lay out well as he jumps up on a radiator without any problem. Some people will not like him due to allergies or simply have a dislike of cats. If it's the latter he will win you over if you give him a try! He sleeps outside so no probs at night. The pool is magnificent. We liked it because it's a proper pool with lengths. So may are fancy shaped where after a couple of kicks you're done. The pool is also yours 24/7. It includes an exercise bike, loungers, TV and many children's toys around the pool. The only niggle if we have to mention it is the need for frosted glass on the door between the pool and the owners' patio and frosted glass on the front door of the bungalow. The latter is important for modesty if you need the toilet during the night and don't want to dress before you leave the bedroom. We wouldn't however be put off going again by these two niggles. It was a lovely, lovely break in a beautiful location. I'm getting over cancer and my other half had lost his brother in July. We needed a good break and Rick and Becca certainly ensured we had one. Thank you so very much for sharing your idyll with us. See you again in 2017, fingers crossed. XXX"

"If you're looking for peace and quiet where the only sound you'll hear are the birds in trees this is the place for you, total relaxation yet only a short drive from the many attractions and beautiful scenery that Devon has to offer. The owners are warm, friendly and welcoming. The pool very warm and clean and an excellent addition to the property. The property could do with a few minor improvements, the side glass door and the pool door that overlooks the owners patio could do with blinds and the kitchen knives need replacing they are so blunt, however these didn't effect the enjoyment of our holiday and if visiting the area again wouldn't hesitate to book the same place again.Further note on the owners, although this property is attached to their home they are no way intrusive you have your private space, the only time we saw them was when they came round the day before we were due to leave to inform us they were going away overnight so wouldn't see us in the morning, we were actually offered to stay on an extra night as the property was empty the following week, we were grateful for the offer but other commitments prevented us doing this, which was a shame."

"It's been a few weeks since we spent our Easter holiday at Deepwell Barn, and I've been meaning to find the time to write a few words about our experience. The cottage was a great base to explore the area. We live in Hull, so Devon and Cornwall are quite a long drive away. We easily visited places of interest local to the cottage and farther afield. For all intents and purposes the cottage is a new build within an existing barn structure, which is great. Everything being like a new home, but with the charm of an old building. That said the barn has been converted to a very high standard, and being from a construction background, I spent a lot of time admiring the quality of the joinery. The cottage had everything we could possibly need, and the welcome pack left by the owners was a very nice touch.Whilst the cottage is in a very rural landscape, within ten minutes you're in the centre of Bideford with all the shops and facilities you could possibly need. All in all we had a great time, and we would highly recommend a holiday there."

"Holiday home was let down by quite severe damp in 2nd bedroom (kids room) and a strong smell of oil from the boiler. And i am sorry when a property says has wifi i expect wifi and not what you got here which was 0.5mpbs connection but thats when it worked, wifi just dropped out all the time.. for me it just did not work... in this day and age we rely on internet to check opening times/booking etc etcAlso could do with some "updating" on some kitchen utilities (fridge and dish washer need replacing), and some of the lamps were a bit dodgy on the sockets (loose connection).Minor comment decor could be updated too, some very dark wood and internal doors and a bit odd having an ensuite toliet in spare bedroom but with slated double doors..Appx 15mins drive to get to main road, carefull if you dont have decent car as the roads are quite rough and very steep in places, bit to much of "in the sticks" for us..Pool was amazing though!"

"This was a lovely property, perfect for an out of season escape. Right on the Tarka trail you had unlimited walking and cycling right on your doorstep. It is large and detached and perfect for two people who want peace and quiet, with a bit of home comfort. I appreciated the hairdryer as I forgot my own. It’s a short walk to Bideford along the trail and the beautiful beach at Westward Ho! just 15 minutes drive. My only niggle was that the kitchen equipment was sparse and poor quality as is often the case with rental properties. If you want a fire the night you arrive bring your own kindling as they only provided three chunky logs and a couple of fire lighters which wasn’t enough to get the fire going. Also if you have fire gauntlets I’d bring them as I really missed mine! All in all a super break, with amazing weather in October."
