      The positives-Overwhelmingly location, location, location.

A minute walk from beautiful town centre & stunning park. Cirencester is an absolute delight. Lots of independent traders sit alongside decent high street stores. In addition 25 charity shops. A thriving town. Great green spaces for walking you & your dog & ideal base to explore The Cotswolds. All this is is a "High Recommend" The challenges. The basement is based under a very old beautiful house. For the first couple of days, there was a musty smell. Perhaps due to it being closed & not heated. The accommodation is VERY tired & could be stunning-but needs decent financial investment. The beds are comfortable, the bedding is old in the bedroom without windows. I prefer to sleep under a double duvet. A single does not cut it as an adult. The lounge is basic. The kitchen is adequate-but utensils & cutlery are not clean. There is a cupboard containing sauces/condiments that I opened & shut immeadiately! The wet room is good. The washing machine & Fridge freezer are also modern. Internet connection is appalling. If you are looking to work and or watch movies you will be hugely frustrated. I am sure it is due to the basement build & deep walls. Internet connection drops out continually. We moved the router into the hallway which helped slightly. Overall if you are not fussed about the comfort, facilities & cleanliness of your accommodation then this one is for you. Otherwise, pass this one by.

Pros Great location and easy to find.

Large basement with comfortable bed, large wet room and pleasant lounge. Car parking good and close. Good base to explore both Cirencester and surrounding area. Abbey gardens within easy reach. Serena very welcoming and helpful. Very quiet despite being very close to town centre. Great to have the town centre so close and easy to access. Cons As previous review stated accommodation is tired needs some TLC. Some electric switches are not good. Premises we found cold. Some kitchen utensils were left dirty by previous occupants with some plates and cutlery still having some food dried on. Difficult to turn off cloakroom taps as they dripped. Other Comments Kitchen very dark and small but served its purpose. Stairs as stated in description a bit steep and uneven. We enjoyed our stay despite the "cons". above and with a bit of TLC this place could be far better.

The property was very well equiped with everything you need for a perfect holiday and just a 15 minute stroll to the beautiful village.

The views were just amazing over the beautiful Cotswold countryside which the property took full advantage of with it's height and huge picture windows and balcony. The wildlife was in abundance with a large bird feeding station attracting goldfinch, chaffinch, greenfinch, great tit, blue tit , green woodpecker, pheasants and french partridge. We also saw muntjak , roe deer, little owl, buzzards, squirrels and rabbits , it was just amazing. There was a pool and darts room which we made full use of being perfect entertainment now the nights are drawing in. There is plenty of outside seating near the wildlife pond , again with fab views. Roy and Sue, the owners, were such lovely welcoming people and could not have been more helpful. We will definitely go back to this lovely unique property .

Overall an excellent property for a perfect holiday stay.

We loved the views. It was just as we had anticipated from the pictures at the time of booking. The only things I would like to add are: the sofas in the living room need replacement. One of the seats is broken and overall they were covered with covers that made them look quite shabby. The seats were falling out of the sofas. Secondly, whilst the place was perfect for a family that required space for 6, it may not be suitable for a group of friends (3 couples), since the room upstairs were quite small and dark with small windows. But we were very happy with our stay. And thanks to the caretaker, who welcomed us to the farm on first day and also gave us a book on the history of Burton on the water on the day we were leaving. My kids enjoyed reading the book!

You need to sort out the booking and payment arrangements for the use of the onsite Electric Vehicle charge point.

Lorna, the advised contact re: the EV charge point didn't have a clue about it, Emma from Molohh was equally unaware, Skyes Customer service assistants didn't have a clue so I ended up writing to the owner to book it and to request details of it's use and payment. He very kindly telephoned me back and sorted out my queries. Skyes Cottages needs to address this and allow booking of this facility via their website. The table in the premises was positioned right in front of the hall door making initial access with bags cases etc very difficult and obstructing ongoing access. This table would be better placed against the wall between the french doors and the window

    Frequent questions

    • Is it worth going to the Cotswolds?

Yes, visiting the Cotswolds is definitely worth it. This area of picturesque villages and rolling hills in south-central England offers a quintessentially charming English countryside experience. The Cotswolds is known for its stunning landscapes, historic architecture, cozy pubs, and delightful walking trails, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and those seeking a peaceful and idyllic getaway.

    • How many days do you need to see the Cotswolds?

The number of days needed to explore the Cotswolds depends on the depth of your exploration and the activities you wish to engage in. For a general visit, a minimum of two to three days is recommended to get a taste of the region's charm and visit a few of the picturesque villages. However, if you wish to thoroughly explore the area, enjoy longer hikes, and immerse yourself in the local culture, a week or more would allow for a more leisurely and immersive experience.

    • Do you need a car for the Cotswolds?

While having a car can provide more flexibility, convenience and save time, it is not absolutely necessary to have a car to explore the Cotswolds. The region is well-connected by public transportation, which can take you to many of the popular villages and towns. Additionally, there are guided tours and local transportation options available for visitors who prefer not to drive. However, if you wish to explore the more remote areas or have the freedom to explore at your own pace, having a car can be beneficial.

    • What is the most famous Cotswold street?

One of the most famous streets in the Cotswolds is Arlington Row in the village of Bibury. This picturesque street is a row of charming cottages dating back to the 17th century. Its unique architectural beauty, characterized by stone buildings with steeply pitched roofs, attracts visitors from around the world and it is widely recognised as one of the most iconic and photogenic streets in the Cotswolds.
