"We stayed at Jennings Cottage in August, but unfortunately the weather wasn't great and this impacted our stay somewhat. There are no pubs/shops or indoor activities nearby, so if you don't like the rain, you may be stumped for things to do. On the plus side, when it wasn't raining we were able to take the dog around Tamar lakes for a beautiful, picturesque walk. We'd have loved to have been able to sit out in the spacious garden of this property and enjoy the views across the countryside but we were unable to do so because of the grotesque amount of rain we endured during this stay (not the owners' fault, we know!).Being stuck indoors meant that a few of the cottage's little quirks did annoy us, however. The property would benefit from a tumble dryer as we had nowhere sensible to dry our clothes (due to the weather). Also, there's no dishwasher at this property and not even a drainer for your dishes. The kitchen could do with replacing altogether due to musty smells inside the cupboards and if you don't like spiders, you may want to bring a handheld vacuum along. The double bed was comfy but the wardrobes and drawers did leave our clothes smelling funny. My 8yrold daughter did mention about the bed on the landing being high up and only a railing being between her and the downstairs area (the small bedroom was too full of spiders for her). The owners were very friendly and provided a lovely hamper on arrival, including some delightful cake, and were only too happy to recommend things to do and see in the area. It is just unfortunate we endured such bad weather. This property would greatly benefit from some modernisation but I'd recommend it for couples wanting to explore local beaches/dog walks and some utterly lush countryside over a long weekend."

"Room wasn't made up. No one around to ask had to ring someone who laughed and said we were probably in another room. Told me to get the keys from their office. Talked me through the code fior the office. Then had to find the key from the office. We had just travelled 250 miles. Wasn't in the mood for routing around for a key. Room was not very clean. Sofa was disgusting. Husband hoovered as we were both itching. Felt dirty. Room in need of a good makeover. Whole experience felt like it was owned by someone who maybe has had enough of the leisure industry. And does just enough to get through. Advertised as dog friendly. No where to walk dogs. Signs all over nearby saying dogs not allowed. Had to walk her in lane nearby. Very disappointed with lack of attention."

"What a wonderful little cottage! This 18th century converted smithy has all the comforts of home and is a short walk to the Tamarr lakes where you can take part in water sports, or just go for a picturesque walk. Karen and Gary were lovely hosts, very helpful and the welcome basket with homemade lemon drizzle cake was a very welcome treat after a long drive. Our dog was spoilt for choice with the amount of beautiful and accessible walks in the area. Bude town centre is only a 20 minute drive from the cottage with a large beach, many local shops and a large supermarket. Also nearby is Boscastle and excellent cream teas in Boscastle Farm Shop cafe. Would highly recommend Jennings cottage as a base for a holiday in Cornwall. We certainly hope to return."

"We enjoyed our stay at Fairview, a quiet, serene farm location...just what we needed to reboot. The host was exceptionally nice, in the run up to our visit and during our stay. It was great being afforded the opportunity of a tour round their farm to see the animals. Quite a number of walking and hiking options around the cottage although we only explored one. We did visit a number of the beaches and beach fronts in the area, which was great - Duckpool Bay and Sandymouth nearby as well as Summerleaze and Crooklets beaches further afield in Bude. Overall, a relaxing experience and we can't wait to get back to Cornwall."

"Great location for touring north Cornwall/Devon and only a 5 minute drive from Bude. Accommodation was good for sleeping but on the basis that it can take 6 adults you would be very cramped in the main room which has a dining table/sofa chairs and kitchen all in one. As a couple of our party dropped out there were just 4 of us (plus baby) and it was okay! Really appreciated all the bits left in the cottage (cleaning, tea, coffee etc) although we had brought same with us. Cot and high chair was great too. Would go back and use as a base again but not if there were 6 of us. Oct 2009."
