"Amazing home from home accommodation - containing absolutely everything that you need, beautifully clean and well decorated. Welcome pack of bread, milk, eggs and home made cake plus a home made cream tea in between our first and second week, was very much appreciated. Welcome pack for the dog included everything from dog bed and blankets, towels, feeding bowls and treats. Quiet location, with shops in Kilkhampton only a short car journey away or slightly further out in Bude. Gorgeous food at the local pub, The Bush Inn, only 5 minute drive away or a 30 minute walk via the country lanes to Morwenstow, where you’ll also find The Rectory Tea Rooms - cream teas don’t come better anywhere else! Lots of places to visit within a fairly short distance, both in North Cornwall and North Devon - Bude, Morwenstow, Kilkhampton, beaches at Duckpool, Blackrock, Sandymouth and Widemouth, (where dogs can be walked), Tintagel, Boscastle, Port Isaac, Clovelly, Crackington Haven, Hartland Abbey and Hartland Quay, Docton Mill Gardens, and slightly further afield to Heddon Mouth and an amazing find at Castle Hill Gardens, to name but a few places. Lovely views from the front windows of Avalon, and hours lost watching the birds feeding outside the kitchen window. We’ve been holidaying in Cornwall (on and off), since 2001 and this has been, by far, the best we’ve ever stayed in."

"Located at the end of 1 mile of rough farm track, (a 4x4 would be useful)in the middle of a quiet but a bit run down farm, the cottage is spacious and was spotless ,the master bedroom with en-suite is superb the other bedrooms have single beds. The owners are friendly enough and approachable. The wifi does not reach the cottage, but it can be picked up by standing in the front yard of the owners house, we visited in early May which was wet and quite cool, so we were dissapointed the heating had been switched off, (locked boiler cupboard) this meant the bedrooms were chilly in the evenings and mornings, our towels didnt dry properly , the log burner did take the chill off the living room, but purchasing logs locally is expensive (over £5 a bag) which burn quickly. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need, even a weeks supply of tea and coffee was supplied. The views from the cottage are great, when it's not raining, but being at the far north of Cornwall, most of the main attractions are a long drive away."

"Good cottage quite small with lovely wood burner, suitable for 2/3 people and a great base for seeing Bude and then rest of Cornwall. The 2nd set of stairs are pretty tricky to get up, but a good sized double and comfortable bed at teh top floor of the cottage. The smaller single bedroom is also a walk through for the next set of steps, so suitable for a child maybe! Lovely big bathroom and fancy bath which was good. No garden but a front table space outside the property for teas and coffee’s outside. Overall was happy and thought the cottage was a bargain, but would recommend for using as a base to see Cornwall and getting out as space is limited in the cottage. The village of Stratton was small and extremely lovely and it had a great pub called the Tree Inn which did some amazing food. Bude is wonderful to visit also. April 2012."

"From the moment we arrived at the Avalon, we felt like it was a cosy and comfortable home from home. The cottage has plenty of private parking, lots of living space and a wonderful conservatory and garden. Lou is a friendly and welcoming host and has ensured that the cottage is equipped with everything you could possibly need and more. It was a pleasure being able to stay there and enjoy watching the bird's on the feeders. Our dog loved being in the back garden and I enjoyed reading in the conservatory. The location is in a quiet spot, so you do need a car, but there are shops and takeaways in Kilkhampton (10 minutes away) or Bude (25 minutes away). Dog friendly pubs near by are the Bush and the London inn. AsAvalon is near to the Devon border, you will find the cottage a good base for Devon and Cornwall."

"Room wasn't made up. No one around to ask had to ring someone who laughed and said we were probably in another room. Told me to get the keys from their office. Talked me through the code fior the office. Then had to find the key from the office. We had just travelled 250 miles. Wasn't in the mood for routing around for a key. Room was not very clean. Sofa was disgusting. Husband hoovered as we were both itching. Felt dirty. Room in need of a good makeover. Whole experience felt like it was owned by someone who maybe has had enough of the leisure industry. And does just enough to get through. Advertised as dog friendly. No where to walk dogs. Signs all over nearby saying dogs not allowed. Had to walk her in lane nearby. Very disappointed with lack of attention."
