"From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the owners Clive and Janice who made us feel more than welcome for our entire stay. The kids loved it and they even let our son Alfie ( 7 ) help out with the resident chickens every day of which he loved. The cottage was very clean and cosy and the log burner just made it even cosier in the evenings. It came equipped with everything you would need for a weeks stay and the bedrooms were all very cosy and comfortable. The cottage is situated in the middle of a valley on the bend of a road - which although not busy still has a few vehicles going past which to be honest you dont really notice after the first few hours and this never interfered with our sleep - what with busy family days out and mountain biking at some of the nearby dedicated mtb trail centres we always slept well. Our hosts Clive and Janice were always on hand to offer any advice and info about places to visit all over Wales. The nearest pub is around a mile away but you do have to walk along the road to reach it which would'nt usually be a problem but there is not always a footpath on some parts of that road and we did'nt fancy taking the kids along that road on foot. All in all we had a fantastic time and at the end of the week did not want to go home which is highly unusual for me anyway. I cant recommend this place enough, its a great place in a stunning location owned and run by the really friendly and helpful Clive and Janice."

"This is not a nasty complaint, just a constructive criticism. The cottage is lovely and the owner has put in good quality items with extras like dog wash outside, garden seating etc. Everything is of a good standard but not kept up to scratch. The hot tub man told us that they have changed their cleaner so may be things will eventually improve but it is sad to see such a lovely property just under par. Does anyone read the visitors book? 4 or 5 times since January people have commented on cleanliness. Someone commented that the kitchen table had fallen on a dog, could have been a child, but it was still there. We needed to clean a cupboard to put our food in it. Freezer was jam packed with bags of ice cubes...in every drawer! Kitchen and bathroom floors had not been washed. The place wasn`t filthy, just not quite clean enough. As for Sykes, you state the gardens are enclosed but the owners leave information in their book that they are not dog safe. I think thar distinction needs making. We had no problems but other visitors have commented on this. I would rather owners were told than publication, but I always read reviews and note that I had only read glowing reports so perhaps this needs to be balanced ."

"Lovely cottage in wonderful surroundings. Loved the peace and tranquilty but you are just a short walk away from the village if you fancy a few drinks or something to eat. Everything you might need is literally on your doorstep. No major supermarkets but that isn't a negative. It was nice to shop locally and a welcome change. Everything you might need is within walking distance. Lovely local beach within walking distance too, our dog loved it! A great base from which you can travel to different towns to sightsee but to be honest we found it was so lovely to enjoy the cottage and the comforts it had to offer. The conservatory was so nice to sit in and the hot tub was fantastic. When we arrived the gardens were overgrown which was a bit disappointing but in the middle of the week the gardeners came to do the lawn and did apologise that they were overdue. We were lucky and enjoyed some good weather but had we stayed indoors, the cottage was wonderfully comfortable and relaxing. We enjoyed it that much that we have booked for next year. It was warm so didn't experience the wood burner but maybe we will next time. Overall, a wonderful gem of a cottage and looking forward to re-visiting."

"OH MY GOODNESS!!!! Well I grew up in this very area and it was a pretty horrific experience... however... Staying at Llanfendigaid has been a (without wishing to sound too 'wishy washy, left wing etc') truly amazing and healing experience. The whole manor is like a little piece of heaven and Graham (caretaker) could not have been more wonderful. I never thought that I'd be sad to leave Tywyn but Graham, his team and the amazing properties and beautiful surroundings brought me to floods of tears. If anyone needs a little time, away from it all to rejoice or lament... this is the place for you. We had the most perfect PERFECT holiday...and to think we were going to go to New York!!! Forget that!!! Llanfendigaid all the way!!! If you're thinking of anywhere else... forget it... this is the place to go!!! Arthur (the dog) had an amazing time too!!! PS. If you do run out of anything... there's a lovely little shop in Tywyn... about 15mins drive and they do all sorts of bits and pieces... JB Owens. Lovely staff :-)"

"There aren't many places left in the UK where you can experience absolute silence but this is one of them and we revelled in it. You can sit outside on a calm evening, letting your eyes take in the stunning mountain and sea panorama, while your ears delight in hearing nothing but the sounds of nature. The cottage is well appointed, comfortable and warm. You'll need transport as it's in an isolated spot, but for us that added to the charm. Within easy reach are the Lleyn peninsula and all the coastline with the towns of Porthmadog, Harlech, Barmouth, Aberdyfi and aberystwyth. You can also explore the Snowdonia national park and ride on some of the narrow gauge railways including the magnificent Welsh Highland railway. The village of Bryncrug is close by, and just a few miles further away Tywyn has supermarkets, pharmacy etc. What more could you ask? We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it without hesitation."
