Holiday Cottages In Snowdonia To Rent

Holiday Cottages in Snowdonia

Snowdonia National Park has so much to offer, from stunning natural landmarks to quaint and picturesque villages, as well as, of course, the majestic peak of Mount Snowdon, which you can actually scale by railway if you don’t fancy the walk! This amazing region is perfect for a cottage holiday and you’ll find some stunning holiday cottages in Snowdonia, whether you’re looking for a spacious lodge for large groups of people, or something small and cosy for a romantic escape.

If you’re looking for a relaxing and hassle free holiday, where you maintain complete control over everything, then you can’t beat a cottage holiday. Self-catered accommodation that’s full of home comforts, Snowdonia holiday cottages have all the ingredients for an unforgettable break in the countryside including some really amazing locations, close to beautiful towns and villages, hiking trails and cycling paths.

What to see on your Snowdonia cottage holiday

Snowdonia National Park is, of course, home to the tallest mountain in Wales, Snowdonia. The climb isn’t too challenging, but you’ll definitely feel a sense of achievement when you reach the top! If you don’t fancy the arduous climb you can actually reach the top via Snowdon Mountain Railways, is actually the only rack and pinion railway in the whole UK.

This beautiful National Park is home to some really stunning towns and villages. Certainly one of the most unique is the village of Portmeirion. Built in an Italian style, visiting Portmeirion is like visiting the Mediterranean (admittedly it helps if the sun’s out!) and is well worth stopping by if you’re in the area. Portmeirion was famously the setting of the hit ‘60s science fiction show The Prisoner, and with its idiosyncratic style it’s easy to see why.

As well as charming villages and beautiful scenery, Snowdonia is steeped in history. Slate minding was one of the biggest industries in the area, and while the mines and quarries have now closed, many have been converted into fascinating museums, such as the National Slate Museum at Gilfach Ddu.

If you’re looking to holiday in the beautiful region of Snowdonia, you’ll find lots of great holiday cottages in Snowdonia to choose from, from charming former mining cottages to larger spacious modern properties filled with home comforts.

What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages In Snowdonia To Rent.

- Mr Dudrenec, July 2018 - verified booking

"If ever a cottage has had the owner's love poured into it, then this must rank amongst the very highest. Not much to look at from the outside (let's face it, it's only an old miners cottage), but from the moment you open the door, you can't help but be impressed (well, we were anyway!). A small hall (with laminate flooring for dirty boots) leading to a really comfortable lounge with a large sofa and a most welcome solid fuel stove (yes, even in July; it was great!). A nice solid wood sideboard supporting a suitably large Panasonic TV with freeview box - nothing cheap here. There is also an expanding solid wood dining table and four dining chairs. I would guess that the downstairs was once two rather cramped rooms that have been knocked into one - a good idea which works well. The kitchen has therefore been added an a full-width extension to the rear, and what a kitchen it is, with top notch appliances and both a dishwasher AND washing machine. Upstairs has a large full-width double bedroom to the front and a smaller single bedroom and bathroom to the rear. All very sensible and satisfactory. Previous feedback has mentioned that the hot water is miserable and yes, it is rather slow. It gets there, but with no head from the cold water tank, it just takes its time! The owner has agreed that this is not ideal and will be converting this to a full mains-pressure tank shortly (he only finished the conversion in May this year, so give him a chance!). I'm sure he will update his description accordingly. On the plus side, the shower is really good and the dishwasher works - what else do you need hot water for?! So, if this is the only gripe, PLEASE do not let this put you off. As others testify, the location is quiet yet accessible and the view from the garden is just lovely- remote and romantic. It just remains for me to say thank you for allowing us to have our holiday here - we can't wait to come back. Robert & Tamzin"

"There was a good supply of wood for the multi fuel stove and we had it working overtime! Wifi was excellent and although we lost TV signal from time to time, this was to be expected given the diabolical weather conditions. The bedrooms were comfortable and the showers adequate. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything we needed. There was plenty of comfortable seating in the sitting room. The big plus for this property was the garden and courtyard surrounding it which were secure and very dog friendly and would be a lovely place to sit in good weather. There was fantastic walking to be had right on the doorstep and the local village pub served excellent food and was welcoming and friendly. My only reservations are that if you don't like spiral staircases (and I don't) that could be problematic. As it was only my daughter and myself, we could avail ourselves of the other two bedrooms - but it could be an issue for some people. Also, I did worry at times about the cream carpet and my muddy dog. The weather was terrible and although I did my very best to clean her off, it didn't seem a very practical floor covering and I would rather have not had the stress! I love this area of Wales and this village in particular and I would definitely book this property when we visit again.Great location for walking. Local pub serves good food at a great price. Only grumble was there was not enough wood for a cosy fire each night, which is something I look forward to after a days walking when the weather is wet and windy.Equipped with everything one could possibly need."

- Mr Aubury, June 2018 - verified booking

"We did enjoy our stay at 19 Cwmorthin Rd and it was much as we had hoped for. Loved the view from the kitchen and of a generous size that made preparing suppers a joy. For the most part we discovered all the switches for this and that to work and the heating was very cosy, but never did discover how we were to get general hot water through the taps in the kitchen and bathroom and coped without it. The shower was fine but took time to get accustomed to; no two showers are ever the same! A great base for our trips as we managed days out to Conwy, to Anglesey and finally the hill climb to the top of Moelwyn Mawr for which the property is ideal as a starting point. For any who take a full look at the property be aware that the one parking space is directly out of the front door in a small space there and NOT at the adjacent terrace end. One issue I would leave with Sykes is that I felt that the two pages of instructions in the folder could really be expanded a little, to give a fuller description of the workings of the property: this would definitely include a description of the local council recycling instructions with which I would happily have complied had I but known the rules laid down! Even the green bin, seen outside every other property along Cwmorthin Road, was seemingly being used for storage and not available for general rubbish; this did leave me scratching my head as to how best dispose of our gathered waste at the end of our stay."
