Holiday Cottages in Isle of Skye

If you’re really looking to get away from it all and soak up some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, then it’s time to get your bonnie boat to speed, like a bird on the wing, over the sea to Skye. Having said that, rowing all the way to Scotland might take a little longer than you’d like, which is why most people drive, take the train or catch a flight! Our extensive range of Isle of Skye Cottages give you enough choice to choose the holiday HQ that’s best for you, whether you’re travelling with the family or escaping for a week with your loved one.

Skye was recently voted the 4th best island in the entire world by National Geographic, which means that it’s suddenly come on the radar as something of a holiday hotspot. Although it’s not renowned for tropical weather, Skye does see the mercury rising in the summer and many of our Isle of Skye Cottages are close to some of the best beaches, such as Glen Brittle Beach and Talisker Bay. Pack your swimming costume or if you’re a bit of a wimp, a wetsuit!

What can I do on my holiday in the Isle of Skye?

A holiday in the Isle of Skye is ideal for those who like to get out and about. If you’ve booked a holiday cottage in the Isle of Skye for the whole tribe, you’ll find that there are plenty of family outings. Check out the Old Man of Storr, a huge pinnacle of rock and one of the island’s most famous walks. Sometimes kids need a bit more than stunning scenery, so a visit to the Serpentarium at Broadford gives them the opportunity to learn about and handle snakes, while the Otter Hides at Kylerhea offer the opportunity to see otters in the wild.

Because Skye is an island, there’s also plenty of scope to go whale-watching and seal-spotting. Most of our holiday cottages in the Isle of Skye are just a short trip to the coast, where you’ll find plenty of Moby Dick-style adventures available in the form of whale-watching excursions.

Grown-ups- the Talisker Distillery. Enough said!

"This was the first time we, as a family, had booked a cottage to stay in for our holidays and we were delighted when we arrived to see it had exceeded our expectations. We were a couple with our two 'children' of 16 and 19 in tow. They had the rooms on the first floor and we took the room on the ground floor with the en-suite. The en-suite was a bit tight and I much preferred using the bathroom upstairs but it was a handy back-up when the others were hogging the bathroom. The owners have really thought of everything, with huge soft towels in each room, bread, cake and milk in the kitchen and everything you'd need to have a comfortable stay. Dunvegan itself is ideal for Skye, sitting close enough to Portree that the 22 mile drive isn't a trial. Whilst you will find that the shops in Duinvegan can keep you stocked, I would still make a trip to Portree to the large Co-op on the outskirts of town at the start of your break. We found our-self about an hour from the likes of Quirang and the Fairie Pools and only a couple of minutes drive from Dunvegan Castle with it's seal spotting tours I'd highly recommend the cottage itself. We felt at home straight away and could easily have moved in permanently...my wife had suggested it :)"

"My friend and I stayed in Tigh-Na-Creag in May 2016 for 1 week. We chose this place as it was quite central between Broadford and Portree and we wanted to explore the Isle of Skye. We arrived to the property and had a visit from the owner who was very pleasant and told us a few things about the property and the area. The house had everything we could need and the kitchen was very well equipped for self catering. The only one thing I would suggest updating would be the sofa/chairs in the living room as they are a little dated and could be more comfortable especially after a long day out and about. Also to make the second bedroom more usable for couples there could be a zip and link/twin bed option. Overall though it was a fab place to stay and had a lovely view out of the picture window in the living room. Highly recommended and I would book again."

"We had a wonderful stay in S5925. Received a really nice and friendly email from the owners the week before heading up. When we arrived there was a delicious sponge cake and milk in the fridge and the place was very clean and welcoming. The house gets amazing light at all times of day and the picnic table in the garden was a wee sun trap! Great having views of the Cuillins. It is in a great location for exploring the north and south of the island and some great trips literally from the door step. We enjoyed a week of sun while the rest of the UK was hit by the Beast from the East. Unfortunately only made it to jann's cakes in Dunvegan on the last day, but maybe that was a good thing! Thanks"
