"we stayed here for our honeymoon! we set off late afternoon so as we were driving into wales it was pitch black! little did we know what we were driving through! we moved in by torch light and un packed! we decided we would order a pizza haha little chance of that as all the takeaways shut at 9.30pm so had to settle for champagne that the owners had left us, when we woke up the next morning i stuck my head out the sky window and nearly fell off the bed! the views were absolutly amazing!!! mountains and fantastic scenery everywhere i looked. there is no where on this earth i would have rather woke up that morning. there is also a little train that runs past the cottage just 6 foot away from the door that toots its horn when it passes, it was like something you only read about in books! over the week we went down the slate mines, climbed snowdon, went to bangor, went to llandudno, climbed another mountain, this was my favourite, every corner we walked around gave us another fantastic view and there were ruins everywhere, old slate cottages still stand as though the people had just upped and left everything as it was, fireplaces still in tact etc, we couldnt believe what we were seeing, we will never forget our honeymoon and i would recomend this cottage without a doubt"

"Two adults stayed for a week with our eleven and nine year old children plus the family dog - everybody had a fantastic week. The cottage was very comfortable, clean and well equipped with everything we needed for a great holiday. Permanent car parking was not available at the cottage (access only) but parking close by on the street presented no problems whatsoever. The cottage is a great base to explore the local hills and we found the abandoned slate mines fascinating. There are loads of small paths and by-ways which it was fun to explore. There are plenty of shops and eateries only a few minutes drive (or train ride!) away in Blaenau Ffestiniog. There is a pub approx 10 mins walk and a great cafe close to the power station, again a ten minute walk. This is also a great location for looking around North Wales - Harlech Castle only half an hour's car ride, we also had a day out on the train to Portmadog and passed within an arm's length of the cottage."

"Lovely attention to detail in decor and bedding etc. Beds very comfortable and it is a great base for exploring. No phone signal or wifi . (Which could be seen as a good or bad thing). Welcome pack provided by the owners which is lovely - incl Welshcakes and homemade marmalade (which is to Die for- sooo nice!). Well equipped for cooking as days / evenings in and a washer and dishwasher which are great additions). Bit of noise when loos are flushed and when the hot water turned on (noisy in the night for instance) . Sky TV needs an upgrade ideally - esp if visiting from A home where the kids are used to lots of channels to choose from- and as it was Rainy, we could have done with more options. However- loads of dvds, books and games so lots to entertain the family with. Overall, A lovely large, well equipped base."

"5 adults stayed in this lodge last week and we were very impressed with everything about the lodge as it had everything you needed for a good family holiday. There were many thoughtful touches throughout the lodge. Plenty of DVD's and books plus board games and jigsaws. We knew we would not be able to get WIFI so we all had a nice time without the phones etc!! The owner even left newly baked welsh cakes and home made jam and was so helpful and a joy to have that on holiday. As I am not good on stairs I had the downstairs double bedroom and the shower and toilet and wash basin was right next door. There is a very good utility room with washer and iron and board and plenty of hanging space for wet clothes and shoes."

"WE HAD A REALLY BRILLIANT TIME, THE COTTAGE IS BRILLIANT, VERY COMFY, TASTEFULLY DECORATED & WELL EQUIPED. THE VILLAGE WE STAYED (CAPELULO) IN IS CHARMING, NOT VERY BIG, BUT A COUPLE OF OTHER LARGER VILLAGES NEARBY. THE SCENERY IS BEAUTIFUL & THERE ARE LOTS OF WALKS CLOSE BY. THE VILLAGE PUB IS, A COUPLE OF DOORS DOWN WITH LOVELY FOOD & PLENTY OF IT! WE ATE THERE QUITE A FEW TIMES (TRY THE LAMB SHANK~TO DIE FOR! ) CONWY & ANGLESEY ARE WITHIN EASY REACH, AS ARE MOTORWAYS. ALL IN ALL WE HAD A BRILLIANT HOLIDAY & WILL DEFINATELY BOOK WITH SYKES COTTAGES AGAIN. WELL DONE."
