What our customers say about their holidays

    • Lisa - Verified booking

The former farm buildings are beautifully renovated and were actually larger than we expected, decor was well thought of.

The cottage was cleaned and sanitised to an exceptionally high standard and the communication we received from Isobel and her team immediately put our minds at ease prior to our stay. We arranged for online groceries to be delivered prior to our arrival and these were very kindly put away for us. The surrounding area was tranquil and very picturesque, the property is surrounded by sprawling countryside with stunning views for miles. We all enjoyed early mornings sitting outside reading whilst listening to the birds and the children loved watching the rabbits play on the nearby field. The property had a particularly large mature garden which the children (and the adults!) enjoyed playing in. Due to my son shielding we cooked most meals in the large kitchen; having the Rangemaster was fantastic as the children also spent a day baking. The Nespresso machine and varied assortment of pods was also an unexpected nicety -appreciated by everyone! The huge Gin Gan style living room was perfect for two families, we played board games, cards and watched movies. Bedrooms were well spaced apart and the configurations worked well. The bed were super comfortable and bed linen seemed of a very high quality (infact we took a photo of the label of the gorgeous mattress topper to order one ourselves). The cottage is perfectly situated between two small towns and a lovely walk to Gleneagles. Locally we enjoyed Argate Red Kites and squirrel feeding, Sterling and Duone Castles. Not too far away from Aviemore so we took a picnic up to Nethy Bridge and hand fed wild Coal Tits in the forest (well worth the two hour drive!). This really was a perfect holiday cottage, as well having a warm welcoming atmosphere the wonderful owners live near so were on hand to help save the day when we realised we'd forgotten baking powder (pretty essential for baking day!). It definitely ticked boxes for everyone, a perfect place to unwind and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The Roundhouse exceeded expectations - bigger and better.

It is in a blissfully quiet location, with lovely views out of the main (round!) living room. Very well equipped - full weeks worth of toilet roll/detergent etc. All bedrooms had bathrobes and slippers, and a cute toiletries kit (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner) plus hairdryer. Smart television. Supermarkets deliver to the house and the owners/cleaners will take in the groceries for you if you arrange the time with them so it's all there when you arrive. The central heating was ferociously efficient, and loads of really hot water. The cleaners had done a very good job. Isobel and John were particularly friendly and helpful hosts, making the holiday and getting around easier. They have clearly taken a lot of trouble to make their house inviting and welcoming, and go the extra mile to help you. The location is good - centrally placed, lots of good roads so driving to scenic locations for walks/trips/days out is easy. Gleneagles station is only a few miles away, on the main line to Stirling, Perth and Inverness. The Roundhouse itself is up a single track road, but good visibility and plenty of passing places so even a mediocre driver like me could manage! Thorougly recommend.

The Roundhouse exceeded all our expectations for a self-catering stay.

Nestled in the rolling hills of Blackford, Scotland, this charming cottage offered stunning views and a tranquil escape for our multi-generational family. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the immaculate cleanliness. The thoughtful touches, like the gift baskets filled with toiletries, luxurious dressing gowns, and slippers, truly elevated our experience to a hotel-like feel. Even the little things, like a hairdryer and a Nespresso machine with pods, were greatly appreciated. The spacious and well-equipped kitchen made mealtimes a breeze, and the washing machine and dryer were lifesavers with young children in tow. But the true stars of the show were the breathtaking views and abundant wildlife sightings right outside our doorstep. The kids were enthralled, and we all enjoyed the peacefulness of the location. The owners were incredibly friendly and made themselves readily available for any questions we had. We all would love to return one day soon. If you're looking for a luxurious and comfortable self-catering getaway that caters perfectly to families, The Roundhouse is an absolute gem!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old House.

The property is perfect and, although small, we had everything we needed. It was beautifully clean throughout and the furnishings are very tasteful. The bed is extremely comfortable and the beautiful views from the bedroom and living room windows create a feeling of tranquility. We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed walking to An Corran Beach and along the bank of the River Stenscholl. Staffin is well equipped with amenities and, as well as making use of Staffin Stores for odd bits of shopping, we visited both the Columba 1400 Cafe and the Hungry Gull, all within easy walking distance of the property. To avoid the potholes and take in the scenery more easily, we made use of the no.57 bus on several occasions with trips to Portree, Uig and Broadford (for Broadford we changed buses at Portree to the citylink service). It was so handy having a bus stop just at the end of the Garafad Road. We hope to return one day- it was a fantastic week and we really loved the property.

We’ve stayed in lots of holiday cottages over the years and this is one of the best.

Quality fixtures and fittings and everything you could possibly need in the kitchen- the owners have thought of everything. There was great attention to detail and lots of little extra touches were provided such as bathrobes and slippers, toiletries, selections of beverages and biscuits, a coffee maker and a wine cooler. The owner, Isobel, welcomed us on arrival and told us she lived close by if we had any problems, which was reassuring, but at the same time she respected our privacy. A great base from which to explore beautiful Perthshire and a warm, welcoming place to return to in the evening. Stunning views from the round room and plenty of wildlife to spot. The weather was kind to us too being the beginning of November, which was an added bonus. There were only two of us for most of the week with family spending the weekend, but there was still space for all seven of us to enjoy without feeling crowded. All in all and excellent holiday home all round.
