" It is really only suitable for a child and certainly would not be suitable for anyone with claustrophobia. The property is well equipped but perhaps could benefit from another waste bin in the second bedroom and one in the downstairs shower room and it would be nice to have a full length mirror somewhere, maybe on the landing. Otherwise the property is very well equipped with all mod cons whilst being tastefully decorated in the style of the property. The property itself is a little quirky and there is a definite knack to closing the bathroom door. Also one needs to remember to duck when entering the bedrooms, particularly the double bedroom as my husband banged his head very hard on more than one occasion. There is a huge garden and the property is located in a very pretty and tranquil village which is within easy access of Peterborough, with its impressive cathedral, Rutland Water and many other beautiful villages and places of interest. The local pub, The Cuckoo, which is just down the road is very friendly and serves excellent food and makes a perfect venue for your first evening. "

"We had a lovely weekend at the Old Rectory - we were lucky to have gorgeous weather. The house is well placed for Stamford which is a great little town with lovely eateries and good shopping. The house itself is impressive with huge rooms, high ceilings and memorable decor. The African animal heads on the walls and curtains with swags and bows won't be to everyone's taste but it was clean and well cared for. Beds were really comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. The owner was very helpful and friendly via text and phone. The house is very close to the A1 and you can hear road noise from the garden but we got used to it. Just watch the turning off the A1 which was a bit hairy (very sharp and no time to slow down) on a Friday afternoon/evening but ok when the traffic was lighter at the weekend. One of the bedrooms was in the basement (with the kitchen and the second bathroom) which felt a long way from the other three on the first floor but might be perfect depending on who is in your party! Wifi didn't work."

"Impressive house and responsive, helpful host. We had a great stay here and enjoyed the large living space and 2 large dining tables - great for a big group. We loved visiting Burghley House and walking at Rutland water. Some great local pubs too. Fox and hounds in Exton was particularly good. Just 2 small points of feedback... these are small but I feel worth mentioning. 1. Some of our group were a bit freaked out by the taxodermy. They are big animal lovers. It might have been worth mentioning this in the description of the property. It didn’t bother me particularly but I mention it for other guests who might be also upset by it.2. The check out is quite early, 10am on a weekend for a big group felt a little mean and the instructions were a quite over the top ie don’t leave anything on the draining board (we didn’t but, come on!)I do realise some people can be disrespectful and clearly there is a need for rules, but the wording of the information pack was a bit patronising and unwelcoming."

"This is a delightful cottage, beautifully appointed, with everything that one could wish for in a holiday home. It was lovely to find the welcome bottle of wine and the bowl of fruit. We loved the well-thought out access through a utility area so that wet boots, coats etc could be disposed of without encroaching on the rooms themselves. A slightly clearer description of the whereabouts of the smallest bedroom would have relieved us of some anxiety - I had visualised having to go through my son's room to the bathroom. In fact I shared the twin-bedded room with my grand-daughter and my four year old grandson was delighted with his "secret room" which led off ours and not off the main bedroom as I think it said in the description. All in all however, we had a perfect break and are planning on a return visit sometime next year..."

"This was our second visit and we hope to return. The cottage is situated in a very quiet, friendly village just a couple of minutes from the A1. We took advantage of the A1 corridor visiting Burghley House and Gardens and Anglesey Abbey. Oundle and surrounding villages offer pleasant walks and plenty of eating and drinking options. With the river Nene just down the lane we were able to watch boats going through the locks. Nene Park is extensive and there are many options - sailing, riding walking followed by lunch in one of the cafes. We also spent time relaxing in the garden enjoying the lovely weather. The cottage is very comfortable and the owner has considered everything that visitors need to enjoy their holiday. The beds are superb and the quietness of the location ensured a good night's sleep. "
