What our customers are saying about our Self Catering Holidays In Llanelltyd.

- 395Edward, August 2018 - verified booking

"Tyne Llwyn is a large and very remote cottage perched on a hillside with incredible views when the weather is nice. The drive to the cottage is occasionally challenging - especially when you first arrive. Ignore the telephone box as the sign for the turn off (its gone) and follow the sat nav, through the housing estate just after the Llanetryd roundabout and drive up the hill. And keep going. Even when you think you must have gone wrong. The cottage is very clean and very comfortable with an Aga in the kitchen, log fires in the two main reception rooms which supplement Geo thermal heating downstairs and oil fired heating upstairs. There is lots of hot water, and an odd bath with built-in basin. The internet is adequate for email. Good during the day, less good at night. Not fast enough for Netflix. Vodafone mobile coverage is good (not sure about other providers). The kitchen is large with an extra TV and some very comfortable old armchairs. It makes a good place for the family to hang out. An outhouse is packed full of seasoned firewood. The cottage is filled with really interesting things. An old fashioned lock on the TV room door, a dog-leg wooden staircase with wooden pins which hold cracked wooden steps together (showing carpentry skills probably disappeared in 21st century UK) and a fireplace with a bread oven. The floors are eccentrically sloped. A charming restoration over the last three years makes this a modern well appointed but historic building. Its not dusty-old - you get the best of modern and historic. Although owners say keep dogs on leads in the garden - there is a cattle grid which keeps dogs from the surrounding fields of sheep, and otherwise effective fencing - and we didn't have a problem. The local butcher is good. Otherwise food is a bit of a challenge. Eating out more so. We got a delivery from Asda - which sorted out supplies. There are loads of great walks nearby - but welsh weather meant we needed rainproof clothing and were glad of our walking boots. You are quite high up - and frequently find you are looking down on the clouds above the valley. At night we were often shrouded in mist (in the clouds). Oh - and just to add - the photos make the rooms look small. They are not. A recommended stay for walkers and dog owners."

"The property was nestled in between mountains and when we arrived we couldn't appreciate just how stunning the view was until the cloud lifted to reveal all. Don't think the pictures online do this property justice as you cannot get the sense of just how remote this property is. There should be more pictures of the views to and from the property. Also, from the photos, we didn't realize how spacious this grade 2 listed building is. Very quirky, roomy, comfortable and cosy with the two log burners and Aga. Beds were comfy too and plenty of hot water. Possibly a mirror in each would have been useful and three rooms lacked wardrobe space, but not really a negative. The four of us and two doggies really enjoyed our Christmas here. Lovely welcome from owner who also brought up some Christmas dec's and lights for the tree, previously put up upon our request, thanks. Stunning walks, but dogs have to be on leads directly from the house as plenty of sheep around. Also there are old mine shafts still visible, and although they have been fenced off, you need to be careful and stick to the paths. A little drizzle of snow also made this area very beautiful indeed. Very lovely all in all. Thank you."

"We had a wonderful short break at Toll Bridge House over Christmas. Barry was working on the bridge so there to welcome us and told us everything we needed to know to get us settled in. The woodburner had been lit so the house was lovely and cosy for our arrival, the christmas tree was up and decorated, and such a lovely surprise to find some presents under the tree for us and our dog! Such a lovely touch! The bridge was closed on both Christmas day and Boxing day but there was still a steady stream of walkers crossing over the estuary, we were only bothered once and asked to open the bridge at 8pm on Christmas night (not enough fuel to drive around apparently), but luckily Barry had already warned us this might happen and left us instructions on how to handle the situation! The house comes fully equipped and the space has been used well, even though its very compact we were very comfortable and had everything we needed to cook a full christmas lunch. I would definitely recommend this for a couples get away and look forward to staying here again. Fabulous hosts with a fabulous holiday let!"

"The cottage was nicely decorated & very well equipped & there were nice touches such as Welsh cakes in the 'Welcome Pack' and cotton wool & an emergency toothbrush (in a sterile packet!) in the bathroom. The owners sent a lovely e-mail prior to our visit, wishing us a good time & providing lots of useful info. It was nice to get that personal touch & it felt like they really cared about their guests.Location was very good, with a great dog friendly pub and access to the Mawddach Trail just across the road. The only reason we have given the location a 9 instead of a 10 is because there is no pavement outside and you have to walk along the main road to get to the shortcut to the Trail and you have to be particularly careful, especially with a dog ( & I imagine with young children). We booked at the last minute & appreciated not being restricted to a specific start day and had a very enjoyable few days."
