"The week we stayed at the Cart was value for money. Although, several things where disappointing. The tearoom next to the Cart was being refurbished, which was ok but not ideal and prior warning would have been preferable. On arrival the outside was not as expected no hanging baskets and all the plants on the patio were dead. The patio had lots of dried cement on it and the door mat was very scruffy just like the patio table and chairs. Inside the furniture was rather worn and an ikea chair very stained and grubby. There were also a few cobwebs in the property, which I wouldn’t imagine to be there should the property be cleaned between guests. No welcome pack as mentioned in the online details. The kitchen electrical equipment was very good, oven , microwave, washing machine all in good working order. However, other equipment was rather basic and sparse. A rusty roasting tin in the one equipment cupboard and a broken pedal bin. The down stairs bedroom was a nice size with matching blinds. The shower room was poorly finished and includes a toilet with the wrong size toilet seat ?. The upstairs bedroom was nicely furnished with binds. We enjoyed our stay but felt the pictures online were a little deceiving. The property was not as clean and appealing as photographed."

"A lovely light and airy cottage perfect for a family of 4 and a great base for exploring the local area. Particularly enjoyed the back patio in the afternoon and the big bath (remember to bring bubbles). There are a few housekeeping issues but these could be easily fixed - broken kitchen bin, rusty baking and pizza trays, toilet seat ill-fitting, wonky door on washer. Also no welcome pack. Karen, the host, was very helpful and had lots of local knowledge. When we arrived there was no tv signal but Karen quickly arranged for an aerial repair man to come out on a bank holiday weekend and fix the problem.Unfortunately we didn't find the property as peaceful and private as we'd hoped. This was due to the property adjoining a bistro/bakery. Throughout the day there are people coming and going. In spite of a large car park many vehicles parked right outside the property blocking our lovely view and making it difficult to get in and out of our parking space. We also felt overlooked by people walking past. Would suggest owners put a little fence around front patio area to show it is private as one man actually came and sat down and started smoking!"

"We chose this cottage because it looked cosy and had character. The cottage was nice but it was dirty. The shower was grimy, the radiator tops were dusty, the light switches dirty, the kitchen cupboards shelves were full of dust and some of the pots in them were stuck to the shelves and worst of all the carpet, sofa and cushions smelt of dogs and open fire smell. We have dogs oursleves and know the importance of keeping soft furnishings and carpets cleaned. We left the property after 2 days and requested a refund. This has been denied by the owners as we didn't give them the opportunity to correct the issues. The owners (who clean the property themselves) live just next to the cottage. we had only booked a last minute 5 night break away from the stresses and strains of life and did not want a face to face confrontation. The issues with the property in our opinion could not have been rectified within our stay and certainly not without affecting our holiday. The excuse from the owner is that the cottage is an old converted barn and basically says what do you expect!!!!. I just expected it to be clean."

"Really nice location and very quiet. All you need is in the cottage and cleanliness reasonably good. Sadly looks like maintenance is required to get the cottage up to scratch.Mould in shower, Windows very dirty including patio doors, loose toppings on brick wall outside, porch outside patio doors leaking, old sat dish not in use still attached and many other bits and bobs that if sorted would make this an excellent option instead of just good.Tom was very nice and approachable as was his wife, just not a handy man I guess. Not to paint to bad a picture bed linen and towels very clean as was the furniture, we would not return as generally we like to visit different places, but would probably recommend the cottage as a option.p"

"The Cart House is a little Gem. If you want a quiet, cosy base for travelling the Yorkshire coast, this is the perfect place. The cottage has all the necessary equipment, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space and a super bath in the upstairs bedroom. There are plenty of leaflets in the lounge footstool and an information folder which details all the local attractions and places of interest. Right next door is The Granary, which is a lovely cafe and we enjoyed a couple of great meals there. Ulrome itself doesn't have a shop, pub or restaurant etc (other than The Granary), so be prepared to travel if you want to eat out elsewhere. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and Karen, the owner, is usually around if you need anything."
