Overton-on-Dee is ideally situated for day trips to North Wales, Cheshire, and Shropshire, as it lies in the midst of beautiful scenery not far from the English border. This picturesque village sits on an escarpment below the winding course of the River Dee, and it is home to a number of impressive structures dating back to the 18th century as well as a handful of stores, a fantastic restaurant, and a classic bar. The nine Meres of Ellesmere, formed during the glacial period and today offering chances for picturesque hikes, boat rides, sailing, fishing, and bird watching, may be found in the area as well. Ellesmere boasts a wide range of architecturally pleasing structures, such as the Norman-era St. Mary's Church, in addition to a wonderful assortment of retail establishments and no fewer than nine pubs, plus an annual beer festival.
