    About this property

Dinas Mawddwy 2 miles. A picturesque farmhouse, situated on a 500-acre hill farm, 2 miles from Dinas Mawddwy. S4767 has been extended to create a delightful, spacious property with a wealth of original features including magnificent oak beams and doors, exposed stone walls, a lovely inglenook fireplace, slate flagged floors and woodburners, which all help create a real welcoming atmosphere. With parts dating back to the 17th century, the property boasts a perfect combination of olde worlde character and new build convenience, including a four poster bed, with all modern facilities which include a Rangemaster cooker, an all body jet shower, a hot tub and pool table. This charming old farmhouse nestles in a perfect away-from-it-all location on a 500-acre organic farm, commanding panoramic views over the surrounding mountains and hills, as well as the opportunity to try free. The location is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, mountain bikers and birdwatchers, who can all enjoy the owner's private mountains (mounts Graig Wen and Gribyn, both over 2000'), where the Red Bull Hardline mountain bike event is held annually, with the rest of Snowdonia beyond, while green fields surrounding the property are perfect for playing football or cricket in the summer sun. Nearby Dolgellau offers a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants, or discover the sandy beaches, castles, golf courses and mountain railways of the region. The owner, who lives nearby and occasionally occupies a small annexe to the left of the holiday property, is always ready to help, and at the end of an exciting day, enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery as you relax in the lovely hot tub.

Dinas Mawddwy is a pretty village in the southern part of the Snowdonia National Park made up of just one street and overlooked by the spectacular Aran Mountains. Nearby the Meirion Willen Mill is open to visitors and occupies a lovely position on the banks of the River Dovey. Dolgellau is a charming town with 17th century bridges and a variety of pubs and eateries situated 10 miles away from Dinas Mawddwy by the foothills of Cader Idris, one of Wales' most incredible mountains. This region is a haven for lovers of the outdoors with many walking, climbing, biking and birdwatching opportunities available throughout Snowdonia and at the nearby Coed-y-Brenin Forest, famous for its challenging mountain bike trails. Gorgeous sandy beaches, the Mawddach Estuary, and narrow guage steam railways are all close to this wonderful year-round holiday location.

"We really loved our stay here in S4767. Mr and Mrs Evans were extremely warm and welcoming, and had the best dogs! There was plenty of space for the nine of us, and the facilities were lovely. The jacuzzi was an amazing treat at the end of a long day of walking! :)"

"Me and my family loved it such a beautiful peaceful place and the owners were lovely, friendly and so helpful. Enjoyed every minute"
    Mr Bond ‐ 1 May 2018
"So many rooms - plenty of room for all of us. Well off the main road so it's completely silent. Great views. Pubs not far away. There's a Co-op in Dogellau which is about a 15 minute drive away so was easy to stock up on food. We were on a mountain biking holiday and there was a large games room for us to put our bikes in and loads of room outside for bike maintenance and all of our vehicles. The bottom of the Red Bull hard line is a few hundred meters away from the cottage so that was amazing to look at (but well out of our league). The hot tub was used by nearly everyone - it's got loads of room and was nice and warm - but we couldn't get the time machine feature to work ;)"

    "Would definitely go back!"
    Mr Lloyd ‐ 1 Apr 2018
"We did have a couple of very minor issues, a small leak from the dishwasher and a shortage of tea spoons, but these are of little importance. We had a lovely week and we would definitely go back to this cottage."
    Mrs Heard ‐ 1 Jan 2018
"The cottage has everything you need and the hot tub and the pool table was a definite hit with all. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating"
    Mrs Percival ‐ 1 Dec 2017
"The cottage is well equipped and well furnished with a lovely 'farmhouse' feel. There were six adults and two babies in our party and there was ample room for everyone. The hosts were lovely and couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for us as we wanted a few days just relaxing and walking and thats what we did. The pool table and hot tub were a bonus. We will definitely be booking this property again and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends."
    Mrs Reeve ‐ 1 Oct 2017
"The owners of the cottage are delightful and they are very happy to help whenever they can and their knowledge of cottage history is really interesting"
    Mr Goossens
"Absolutely great holiday, beautiful old farmhouse on a working farm in the mountains."
    Mrs Elizabeth Lea, Kirkwall, Orkney
"We liked everything! The house rambled along and up so that there were quiet corners for folk to "hide" in. The kitchen with its big table provided the perfect focal point for family socialising and communal eating. The paved area to the front was great for scooter opportunities for the 5 yr old, the surrounding wall for drying boots (had we needed to!), the back garden (gravelled) was not much used except for the hot tub which was used by all of us, everyday.. particularly after our day climbing Snowden. The owners were delightful hosts!"
    Mrs Louise Mumford, Nantwich, Cheshire
"It was a marvellous cottage and location for a wonderful holiday for our family group with ages ranging from 30 to 99 (and dog). Activities ranged from mountain climbing to relaxing in the hot tub and everything in between. "
    Mr Ryan Duxbury, Accrington, Lancashire
"We particularly liked the overall size of the property and the helpfulness of the owners."
    Mr Mark Young, Knebworth, Hertfordshire
"I had a great holiday with my friends, the cottage was well equipped with everything we could possibly want, and the owners were very helpful whenever we needed it. I especially loved the pool table and hot tub. The value was fantastic as well, I would love to visit again one day!"
    Mrs Mary Tomlinson, Ashbourne, Derbyshire
""We loved the fact that the owners found time for us; even in the busy lambing season they bought newborns for us to see and even let us watch them being delivered. The mountains behind us provided some excellent walks that were peaceful and quiet . It was marvellous to bring our family together in such a wonderfully spacious farmhouse in just the right setting.""

"A group of 10 of us stayed in S4767 for 3 nights and it was just a wonderful experience. Great friends, great house and super surroundings. For a short stay in February the weather was very much on our side and the owners were extremely helpful and accommodating, showing us the best routes for our walks and just being general lovelies. As a group we walked to the Red Lion pub which served fantastic home cooked delights and a well deserved pint of something refreshing. We also took a hike up to the top of the idyllic mountain side surrounding the cottage which have the the most breathtaking views. Of course this wouldn't be a review without the mention of the hot tub, just great! This house itself is oldy worldy with beams, an insane master bedroom/bathroom combo and incredible dining area which really went down a treat with the wood burning fires. All in all this was a super stay for us and we would be more then happy to go back again. In fact we are all in talks of a summer stay so lets get booking."
    Mr Luke Smith, STROUD, Gloucestershire
"The house is just great and the kitchen is fantastic, with a big wood burning range with a glass door, that makes the place especially homely. We even managed to sit out in the hot tub under a clear sky, which was heavenly. There is plenty of room and the location is excellent, so all in all we couldn't be happier."

"Well this was our second holiday to the area and S4767 was a fantastic place to explore the area from and then relax and enjoy the evenings in. I can't go any further without mentioning the owners who couldn't do enough for you and were always so friendly, welcoming and enjoyable to deal with. The cottage is set at the foot of a mountain owned by the owners and as mentioned in other reviews the owner will take you up in his pick up so you can enjoy the incredible scenery and walk down. The hot tub is perfect after a long day mountain biking, walking or exploring! The house is in good condition and it may sound minor but the pump that aids the water pressure around the house does a sterling job and all the showers are nice and powerful, especially the jet shower! Huge kitchen, big lounge and a games room means there's always plenty of room for everyone. Would definitely recommend and return."
    Mr Derek May, Hampton,
"Lovely location, very cosy and roomy. Very friendly and helpful owners."
    Ms Jenny Walker, Bootle, Merseyside
"The cottage was everything we wanted and so much more. The owners couldn't do enough to make our stay memorable, without being intrusive. Can't wait to go back. I really didn't want to come home, wish we could of stayed longer."
    Mr Andreas Lindgren, Bracknell, Berkshire
"A lovely location and a beautiful historic property. The hot tub was a big plus."

"I can honestly stay I have never been sad to end a holiday like I was leaving here. We went as a group of 10 for a surprise Hen weekend. The bride to be was blown away as I think we all where. The owners couldn't of made us feel more welcome without being intrusive. The cottage was just perfect and we are already planning our one year on visit. The farmer took us up the mountain in his truck and we walked back down (except for one of the group who was driven down) the views were completely amazing and the walk was on a road so wasn't too strenuous. The hot tub was very well used and thoroughly enjoyable, the kitchen was definitely the heart of our stay. As it was lambing season the farmer let us all have a little cuddle with a new born lamb. The lack of phone signal and internet was a pleasant change and I thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet of being there. I can not recommend this place highly enough."
    Ms Caroline Gwilliam, Whyteleafe, Surrey
"The hosts were charming, without interfering and went out of their way to assist us. The hot tub and pool table were great fun. The cottage is set in stunning scenery, with lots of good local walks."
    Mrs Kelly, Wirral, Merseyside

"The welcome we had from the owner was lovely, both were helpful in explaining what we needed to know with regard to the cottage. Their knowledge of Walesade up planning days put easy. They also welcomed our grandchildren on their farm. Would thoughly recommend to friends. Great holiday."

"Our family really enjoyed our stay here. The property is very spacious and there are plenty of different areas. The kitchen easily accommodates all and is really well stocked. Having a hot tub, pool table and dart board was a real treat. We had some lovely weather and there is a huge bench out the front with great views and gets the sun all day. The owners were friendly and helpful and even let us help feed the lambs. The owners dogs were really friendly and gentle and were always up for a cuddle if you called them, even the members of my family who are nervous of dogs loved them. The area is perfect for walking, cycling, real ales and pub grub. I really recommend the cycle route along the old railway line by the estuary starting in Dollgelau and 'Dolgellau cycles' bike hire was really reasonably priced and well managed. I recommend S4767 to all:)"
    Mrs Hancock, Bath, Somerset
"The property is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty on a working sheep farm whose owners are most welcoming and friendly. The property is very spacious and ideal for a large family. It has lots of character with interesting nooks and crannies, four poster bed, log burning fires, wooden ceiling beams, slate floors etc. There are plenty of activities close by. We all fell in love with the place and can't recommend it highly enough for a great family holiday."
    Dr Mcdonald, Manchester, Greater Manchester
"Great, well equipped cottage in beautiful and peaceful location - fantastic views. We stayed in the largest king room with four poster and massive roll top bath. Generous living space, good outdoor terrace for BBQ's and the hot tub is a nice addition. Friendly and helpful owners living next door so easily available if needed. We traveled with two babies who thoroughly enjoyed helping the owners feed the lambs, which was a real treat for two city boys. "

"Upon arrivel we were met by the owners who were very frindly and welcoming, the cottage is very big and pleanty of room for everyone to move about in.The cottage was very clean and tidy. There are pleanty of walks around the area to do and the local pubs and food are great too.would deff go back as having a hot tub is a right treat."
    Mrs Gonzalez, London,
"I enjoyed every single aspect of the property, it exceeded our expectations. The owners are lovely people and were very willing to help when we needed something. I will definitely recommend this place to my family and friends."

"This cottage is set in a beautiful location and is within walking distance of Dinas Mawddwy, where there is a great little, dog friendly pub that serves lovely food (open fire too). It is surrounded by mountains and there are walks straight from the cottage. The cottage is set within a farm where there are other dogs and livestock but the cottage itself is enclosed and if you take your own dogs they are unable to get out of the garden unless they are determined. The farmers dogs have worked out how to get in but they tend to sit close by and just look in, which may drive some dogs crazy. The farmer, who lives in an attached cottage is extremely friendly and really helpful. We also got a lift up the mountain (at the back of the cottage) and walked down..it is a truy amazing sight but remember this is where slate originates and our dog cut her food quite badly (great, cheap local vet) so bare this in mind whilst wandering back. The cottage itself is incredibly spacious: you enter the front door to the games room and then it divides left and right. The kitchen is to the right with a lovely large bedroom above this and the remaining bedrooms and the stunning living room is to the left. The kitchen is a true farm house kitchen, with an aga, log burner, massive wooden dining table and slate flooring (the farmer replensihes the wood whenever needed at a very reasonable price). The living room has lots of seating and there are lots of games and brochures about the locality. The hot tub was a mega hit and requires no real effort to operate on your behalf. The garden is quite small and is mainly patio but the grassed bits are elevated and provide stunning views. There is a little table and chairs set up high too , which proved to be popular for a late afternoon glass of wine. (if you want bigger wine glasses or cups then id advise you take your own as the ones at the cottage are quite small) The fridge is a normal freezer fridge, which isn't that big if there's loads of you so an ice cooler or similar may be useful for drinks etc. We left our wine outside the back door but obviously in summer that would be useless! You also have to be careful how long you shower for. I believe there was a five minute rule - something to do with the pressure and the number of people using it. There are walks near and far and it's worth exploring this before arriving as the internet/mobile signal is pretty poor. Dolgellau is a short drive away and it has everything that you need, such as a large co-op, an amazing cake shop (the best cheesecake we've ever had!), chemist etc and one of our favourite walks around Cader Idris. There is another great walk (the torrent walk) which is between the cottage and Dollgelau. You will not get bored!"

"Friendly greeting from Farmer's wife next door. Property was ideal for large family group (3 generations from teenage to 60s). Lots of bathrooms and different areas. Very popular was the hot tub and games room. Farmer drove us up the local Mountain and we walked back down. It may be too remote for some but was ideal for us"
