The top can be reached by train through the Snowdon Mountain Railway or by foot via one of the numerous routes. The Snowdon Race to the peak, conducted annually in July, is the world's toughest triathlon. The Snowdonia Marathon, held annually in October, is a 26-mile route that begins and ends in Llanberis and circumnavigates the Snowdon Massif. Additionally, mountain riding, open-water swimming, and stand-up paddleboarding are popular activities in this region. Within Llanberis itself, there are a variety of excellent dining and drinking establishments and shops. Caernarfon, on the seashore just 7 miles from Llanberis, features a spectacular castle and town walls, and nearby National Trust sites include Penrhyn, Plas Newydd, and Bodnant Gardens.

Thoroughly enjoyed steam train trips from Porthmadog to Caernarfon Castle and to Blaenau Ffestiniiog. Our second visit to Llys Elen and the cottage was as beautifully presented as before. Wonderful location and perfectly equipped facilities. Thank you

Only used the car on one occasion to drive to the coast. So many walks direct from the door. The route in white folder where number 1 is at Coed Craflywn is a particularly pleasant one. We walked to the top of Y Lliwedd starting at the Watkin path. Bit of a scramble to the top but a great walk. Lovely comfortable cottage

Having stayed in many other cottages in the area there are a few things that could be improved to bring Llys Elen up to the same standard. The main tv room desperately needs a rug. The tiled floor is beautiful but very cold underfoot. A bag of logs and fire lighters were left for the fire but there was no kindling. Fire-lighters alone would have made it hard to get the fire going ( so we didn’t try ) All the lights on the washing machine kept flashing. We had to switch the power off to make it stop and open the door - it may need looking at. Also a washing basket to carry wet washing out to the line would be useful. A proper pan scourer/ brush is needed for cleaning cooking pans. I was surprised there was not soap in every bathroom and extra toilet rolls have always been provided in other cottages. A hair dryer would also be nice Having said all this we really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was warm and cosy, plenty of hot water, a well equipped kitchen a gorgeous garden, superb location that we would be happy to return to ( but only if there was a rug on the tiled floor!! )
