Guests say

Garthfain is a well-received cottage in Dolwyddelan, praised for its tranquility, comfort, and fully equipped facilities. Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere, convenient location for walks, and the pleasant garden with a river view. The welcoming touches and cleanliness contribute to a highly recommended stay, despite a single mention of a pet odour which was resolved.

The cottage is consistently described as spotlessly clean, with one isolated comment about a dog smell that improved with ventilation. This suggests high standards of cleanliness with a minor issue that was addressed.

The location is highly praised for its quietness, beautiful views, and proximity to walking routes. It serves as an excellent base for exploring Snowdonia, contributing to a tranquil and enjoyable holiday experience.

Guests find the cottage warm, cosy, and comfortable, with special mentions of a comfortable bed and efficient heating. The overall atmosphere is welcoming, making it a relaxing retreat.

The cottage is well-stocked, particularly the kitchen, and provides ample information for activities. The presence of a log-burning stove and a well-maintained garden add to the facilities' appeal. A minor electrical issue during a storm is noted but does not detract significantly from the overall positive feedback.

Guests mention the thoughtful touch of Welsh cakes and cake on arrival, enhancing the welcoming feel of the cottage. While such gestures are appreciated, it should be noted that these are not guaranteed for every stay.

The cottage was warm, comfortable and cosy. There is plenty of attractive walking from the doorstep. A very pleasant stay.

Our second visit to 'Garthfain', tucked away on a quiet street straggling its way uphill out of Dolwyddelan, and it was just as pleasant in the autumn as it was in the early spring. I am loath to give too much praise because, selfishly, I don't want it to be booked up the next time I want to go there! It really does provide a great base for a stay plus a little bit more: come a torrentially rainy day, it's a pleasant and homely place to be whilst catching up with a bit of work. Cosy bedrooms, efficient and effective heating, a log-burning stove that is a great companion on a chilly night, and a general fit and finish that says that someone has put care and attention into the place are all attractive points. The mini-Strid running behind the house (and beneath the bathroom) is oddly soothing, even when in spate (which it will be when it rains heavily).Any negative points? Only one, and it hardly matters: in the event that you're in the shower in a vigorous thunder-storm, the electricity can sometimes cut out, leaving you in the dark (it was 6 a.m.) and without water! It only lasted for about 30 seconds, though, and everything came back on quickly and of its own accord.

Lovely cottage, although in the middle of a small terrace it was very quiet with everything you could want. Parking was a few yards away at the bottom of the hill but it was a designated parking space and the road outside was quiet enough to load and unload the car. Lovely little secure secluded feeling garden with outside seating although our short stay was a damp one.
