Our second visit to 'Garthfain', tucked away on a quiet street straggling its way uphill out of Dolwyddelan, and it was just as pleasant in the autumn as it was in the early spring. I am loath to give too much praise because, selfishly, I don't want it to be booked up the next time I want to go there! It really does provide a great base for a stay plus a little bit more: come a torrentially rainy day, it's a pleasant and homely place to be whilst catching up with a bit of work. Cosy bedrooms, efficient and effective heating, a log-burning stove that is a great companion on a chilly night, and a general fit and finish that says that someone has put care and attention into the place are all attractive points. The mini-Strid running behind the house (and beneath the bathroom) is oddly soothing, even when in spate (which it will be when it rains heavily).Any negative points? Only one, and it hardly matters: in the event that you're in the shower in a vigorous thunder-storm, the electricity can sometimes cut out, leaving you in the dark (it was 6 a.m.) and without water! It only lasted for about 30 seconds, though, and everything came back on quickly and of its own accord.

Lovely cottage, although in the middle of a small terrace it was very quiet with everything you could want. Parking was a few yards away at the bottom of the hill but it was a designated parking space and the road outside was quiet enough to load and unload the car. Lovely little secure secluded feeling garden with outside seating although our short stay was a damp one.
