Guests consistently praise its comfort, spaciousness, and convenient access to local walks, shops, and restaurants. The property is appreciated for its cosy atmosphere, helpful hosts, and off-road parking. While some mention minor issues such as a musty smell and dated décor in places, the overall experience is very positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, though a few noted a musty smell downstairs and some dampness in the kitchen. These minor issues did not detract significantly from the overall impression of cleanliness.

The location is highly praised, with guests loving the proximity to the village centre, beautiful walks, and local amenities. The setting is described as both convenient and picturesque.

Guests frequently mention the cottage's comfort, highlighting cosy beds, spacious rooms, and a warm atmosphere. Some noted cold stone floors, but this was a minor point compared to the overall comfort.

The cottage is well equipped, with a good kitchen, two W/Cs, and off-road parking. Some minor maintenance issues were mentioned, such as the need for fresh paint and garden tidiness, but facilities overall were highly rated.

Several guests appreciated the helpfulness and good communication from the hosts, and some mentioned lovely treats left for them. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

Overall a great experience. The cottage was very clean and well presented with clear and timely instructions on access and an update to early availability prior to arrival. A few minor niggles: The shower was in need of repair due to a leak (it happens!); the small ring on the hob did not work; the frying pan in the cupboard was no longer non stick; the shrubbery along the drive could benefit from a trim to make reversing up the steep/narrow drive to park a little easier; and we had some very noisy neighbours adjacent to our cottage for a couple of nights during our weeks stay (can’t choose your neighbours!). Apart from those small inconveniences, we had a great stay at Smithy House which is well placed for local amenities and getting out to explore the surroundings. Thanks to Sue & Phill who manage the property and made the experience welcoming.
