About this property

Glowty is a beautiful, spacious, sympathetically converted former cowshed nestled on a hillside, just below Aberyscir common. It’s around 1 mile from Aberyscir, a charming village perched on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Pull your walking boots on and take scenic day hikes through landscapes of grassy moorlands, heather-clad escarpments and sandstone peaks. If you like rustic then this is for you! The open plan style property with exposed beams is well equipped for self-catering and the cosy living room has a vaulted ceiling with plenty of sofa space to relax. If you’re after relaxation, then you really don’t need to go anywhere as the wood burning stove makes for cosy nights in! Remote but only a mile from the A40 for easy and quick access to the nearby towns of Brecon and Crickhowell to the east and Sennybridge and Llandovery to the west. It sleeps 4 with the option of a further 2 as there is a sofa bed in the lounge which can be made up at an extra cost. In good weather, be sure to make use of the private garden, complete with seating and a BBQ area –ideal for al fresco dining with a backdrop of stunning views.

You’ll be surrounded by wonderful walking and cycling trails taking in rolling hills, cascading waterfalls and lush valleys – this really is a nature lover’s dream. The small summit of Cefn Llechid (5 miles) is a great option for a local hike and has lovely views in every direction on a clear day. Brecon is fab for a day out, whether you’re visiting the cathedral, wandering around the quaint shops or popping in for lunch somewhere. In the mood for some water sports? At Llangorse Lake (12.5 miles) you can go sailing and windsurfing. Stay at this cottage when visiting one of the many festivals in the area - Brecon Jazz, Hay festival, Green Man or the Abergavenny Food festival.

If you want adventure or sightseeing Brecon is famed for its 11th century cathedral, bustling town centre, theatre, cinema, museums and leisure centre with indoor pool and waterfall country surrounds you. For guests wishing to explore further afield, Cardiff and Swansea are about 70 mins drive. The wonderful Gower beaches are an excellent day trip option as would be a day out exploring Carmarthenshire or Pembrokeshire.
