The River Severn and Montgomery Canal run through nearby Newtown, which opens up fabulous walking and cycling especially on the towpath, giving direct access to the Pwll Penarth Nature reserve, two miles away, where you may be lucky enough to see the salmon leap or the busy sand martins from one of the bird hides. You are ideally placed to explore the Cambrian Mountains and the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its undulating countryside just a short drive away. Why not visit the impressive National Trusts Powis Castle, a 20 minute drive or perhaps pop for afternoon tea and to marvel at the stunning gardens at Glansevern Hall, 7 miles. The pretty market town of historic Montgomery with its castle high on the hill is worth a trip and also boasts a Michelin-starred restaurant, perfect for a special occasion.
