The White House is a well-received holiday cottage, praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and stylish decor. Guests have enjoyed the peaceful location with scenic views, comfortable furnishings, and a well-equipped kitchen. The outdoor space and proximity to wildlife add to the charm. Some guests noted issues with heating and a need for additional kitchen items, but these were minor compared to the overall positive experience.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Guests consistently noted the property as very clean and well-presented, with only minor comments about windows needing a clean and the oven requiring a deep clean.

The location is highly praised for its beautiful views and peacefulness, though some guests mentioned difficulty in finding the property and the rural access roads.

The property is described as comfortable with good-sized bedrooms and comfortable beds. However, some guests found the house to be overheated and had issues with the heating controls.

Communal areas are great for the whole group to hang out together, house design flows well. Furniture is comfy and relaxing to chill out in. Host supplied a welcome pack of food goodies and the furnishing / decoration of the house is lovely/modern and stylish. Bathrooms are beautiful. Plenty hot water and good shower pressure. Beds are comfortable. Some things that would be helpful to include in the property listing/ information to guests: More accurate directions. The manual directions from owner are not entirely correct and need more detail. The postcode listed on the booking info plots you in the wrong road. Only the supplied what3words location blush.butterfly.spades is correct and will get you to the house. This house is located down single track lanes with passing points for about 10 minutes off the main roads, (normal if you’re used to wales, but many guests aren’t, so some warning helps prepare visitors) The significant pro to this very rural location in the middle of nowhere, is that the views from the house are very scenic - beautiful fields as far as the eye can see, with sheep and cows near by, very relaxing to watch and unwind, birds of prey overhead (bring your binoculars!) these uninterrupted landscape views are possible because of the remote location. If you want to escape to the country and unwind - this is the perfect place to do so. The sunsets as viewed from the terrace at the back of the house are stunning. We got an Asda shop delivered no problem- driver was familiar with the house already. Nearby shops are in Newtown (about 20 minute drive away, with a Lidl) bring toilet paper as host supply an initial amount only. Would have been nice if 1 hand towel was supplied per guest (not sure why supply is limited to one per bathroom, every guest with longer hair needs both a bath towel for the body and a smaller hand towel for their hair) the lack of towels supplied meant hair washing had to be rationed between laundering the one hair towel to make it available for the other guest sharing the room - this cut into enjoyment of our holiday time. I asked the housekeeper for more hand towels, I was informed that no more than one hand towel per bathroom would be supplied. Same applies to tea towels and cloths, we like to keep a clean kitchen and clear up after ourselves, only one microfibre cloth and 3 tea towels supplied meant we had to launder these regularly during our stay to stay hygenic. We did appreciate that plenty laundry detergent was supplied however. The house is heated to maintain a minimum temperature of 24degrees Celsius, even in June, it would appear. You cannot change this. It was not a hot week weather wise but the temperature kept rising to 26 degrees by itself, and this was too hot. As you cannot adjust the temperature, your only option is to open all the windows. This reduced the temperature to 23C…not cool. It would be nice if heating was off for the summer months. A base temperature of 24degrees C is too hot for summer. Perhaps 21C would be more reasonable? Overall very good quality accommodation and the price is good value - I would probably visit again in winter months as we know the house will be plenty warm enough (lol) we didn’t have cause to use the log burner or fire pit on our visit but this is a great amenity for guests in colder months.

Would benefit from a coffee machine to add to the luxury feel of the house, the logs for the burner need to be kept dry prior to putting out and the oven needs a deep clean along with the the tumble dryer filter and the dishwasher.

  • Emily

We found the heating tricky to control with the thermostats so it might be worth putting some simple instructions and the thermostat for the large bedroom was not on, but it was still a fabulous stay and such a beautiful place. We will definitely be back!
