Originally a public house, this property offers guest comfortable accommodation while retaining the charm of the country inn. The property includes an enclosed garden and full use of a private hot tub. Montgomery Castle is literally a short walk away. The Offa’s Dyke National Trail runs close to the town, providing a good excuse to get your boots on and head off for a walk, with vineyards and home-made ice cream suppliers nearby.
Guests are also very close to the National Trust properties Powys Castle, Chirk Castle, Erddig and Attingham Park. The Welshpool to Llanfair steam railway, Montgomery Canal and Lake Vyrnwy are all local and well worth a visit. Quad biking, paintballing and horse riding are all available locally, and watersports can be found at Bala Lake and in Llangollen, a 40-minute drive. Historic Shrewsbury is a 30-minute drive away, while within easy driving distance there is also Welshpool and Newtown all of which host a wide range of bars, shops and restaurants, and the west Wales coastline is approximately an hour’s drive away.

We all loved staying in this 16th-century converted pub (with its own bar!) with the best people in my world was absolutely amazing! Celebrating our 50th birthday weekend with the gang was unforgettable—exhausted from laughing and hoarse from singing, but Monty, you were an absolute blast! Memories like these are priceless and were made unforgettable - loved the hot tub, log burner and bar. Bedrooms were authentic, clean and comfortable. We are looking to book again.

Aside from the lack of lighting downstairs, the house/old pub is amazing and very quirky. We came here for a girls weekend and fully enjoyed all the house had to offer. The house itself lacks natural light so it would be good to see some extra lighting downstairs to brighten it up. The hosts were lovely and checked in on us at arrival to make sure we had everything we needed. They provided local taxi/minibus information but be warned if you have more than 4 people in your party you will struggle to get transport if you need it. The village has a lovely little local pub, chippy and shop and the dragon hotel did a very nice Sunday lunch. A lovely quirky place to stay in a beautiful village. We hope to return in the near future.

A really quirky cottage , having once been a pub ! My friends and I had a really lovely stay there , excellent location and accommodation . We all appreciated the hot tub and Prosecco kindly provided by our hosts . Would love to go back there one day with the grandchildren. They would love the football table, darts and billiards !
